울진군은 지난 3월 20일 ‘2026년 세계 물의 날’을 맞아 열린 기념식에서 경상북도가 주관한 평가를 통해 도내 우수기관으로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 물의 소중함과 지속 가능한 물 관리의 중요성을 알리기 위해 마련된 것으로, 울진군은 자치단체와 유관기관을 대표해 수상의 영예를 안았다.

군 맑은물사업소는 지방상수도 현대화 사업 완료 이후에도 체계적인 사후 관리에 주력하고 있다. 향후 10년간 유수율 85% 이상을 유지하기 위해 ‘상수도관망 전문유지관리 용역’을 추진하는 등 안정적인 운영 기반을 구축했다.

또한 ‘송수관로 복선화 정비사업’을 통해 관로 사고에 대비하고, 노후 정수장 시설 개선으로 깨끗하고 안정적인 수돗물 공급 체계를 마련했다. 이 같은 노력은 운영 효율 향상과 수도 경영 개선으로 이어졌다는 평가다.

하수도 분야에서도 ‘후포공공하수처리시설 증설사업’과 ‘울진읍·후포면 노후 하수관로 정비사업’을 추진해 공공하수도 서비스 수준을 높이고, 지반침하 등 안전사고 예방에 기여한 점이 높은 평가를 받았다.

박학주 맑은물사업소장은 “이번 수상은 군민들에게 안정적인 물 공급을 위해 노력해 온 결과”라며 “앞으로도 깨끗하고 안전한 물 공급을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Uljin County has been awarded the ‘Outstanding Water Management Institution’ commendation in recognition of its achievements in fostering the water industry and the water supply and sewerage sectors.

Uljin County announced that it was selected as an outstanding institution within the province following an evaluation conducted by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province at a ceremony held on March 20 to mark ‘World Water Day 2026.’

This event was organized to raise awareness of the value of water and the importance of sustainable water management, and Uljin County received the honor of the award on behalf of local governments and related organizations.

The County’s Clean Water Business Office is focusing on systematic follow-up management even after the completion of the local water supply modernization project. It has established a stable operational foundation by implementing a ‘specialized water pipe network maintenance service’ to maintain a water loss rate of over 85% for the next 10 years.

In addition, the county prepared for pipeline accidents through the ‘Duplicate Water Pipeline Maintenance Project’ and established a clean and stable tap water supply system by improving aging water treatment plant facilities. These efforts are evaluated as having led to improved operational efficiency and water management.

In the sewage sector, the county also received high praise for raising the level of public sewage services and contributing to the prevention of safety accidents, such as ground subsidence, by implementing the ‘Expansion Project for the Hupo Public Sewage Treatment Facility’ and the ‘Maintenance Project for Aging Sewer Pipelines in Uljin-eup and Hupo-myeon.’
