이번 선도형 디지털 클러스터는 지금까지 개별공장 중심의 스마트화 지원뿐만 아니라 스마트공장 간 데이터·네트워크 기반의 상호 연결을 통해 기업 간 공동 자재관리부터 수주‧생산 및 유통‧판매 등 다양한 협업비즈니스 모델(BM)을 지원하는 것이다.

사업에 참여하기 위해서는 클러스터를 주도적으로 이끌어갈 선도기업(대표기업)을 비롯하여, 협업 중소·중견기업등 15개사 이상의 제조기업(참여기업)과 체계적인 전략 수립을 지원할 기획기관이 함께 컨소시엄을 구성해 신청해야 한다.

컨소시엄은 전후방 가치사슬 중심으로 유연하고 최적화된 협업체가 구성될 수 있도록 공정 중심의 제조기업 뿐만 아니라 설계·판매·AS 등제조 전반에 걸친 연계 기업의 참여가 가능하다.

이 사업을 통해 총 3개 컨소시엄을 선정하여 총 3년간 최대 64억원을 각 컨소시엄별로 투입해 협업 비즈니스 모델(BM)사업화를 지원한다.
