또한 “이와 같은 일련의 언행은 대구를 대표하는 시장으로서의 품위를 내던지는 것이며 대구시장이 취하겠다는 후속 조치 역시 대구시장의 권한을 넘어서는 치졸한 방법임을 대한민국 국민 전체가 알고 있다.”고 지적했다.

그리고 구미시장, 대구시장, 안동시장, 경상북도지사의 4자 회담을 열어 취수원 이전 문제를 해결하기를 제안했다.
