구미시의회는 7월 1일 시청 본관 3층 소회의실에서 ‘청년 일자리 정책 연구회’의 발대식 및 착수보고회를 개최하고 본격적인 연구 활동에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 연구회 소속 의원들과 연구용역 수행기관 관계자, 의회사무국 직원 등 20여 명이 참석해 청년 일자리 확대를 위한 공동의지를 다졌다.

‘구미시 청년 일자리 정책 연구회’는 정지원 의원을 대표로 김낙관, 양진오, 김춘남, 장세구, 신용하, 소진혁, 김원섭 의원 등 총 8명의 의원이 참여해 구성됐다. 연구회는 지역 내 자원을 기반으로 청년들에게 실질적이고 지속 가능한 일자리를 제공할 수 있는 방안을 마련하기 위해 활동할 예정이다.

정지원 대표의원은 “청년들이 괜찮은 일자리를 찾아 고향을 떠나는 현실이 안타깝다”며 “지역 자원을 활용한 창업 및 취업 지원책을 통해 단 한 명의 청년도 소외되지 않도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.

박교상 구미시의회 의장은 “김장호 시장 취임 이후 8조 원 이상의 투자가 이어지고 있지만, 투자와 고용 간 시차로 인해 청년 체감 고용은 여전히 부족한 실정”이라며 “이번 연구회 활동이 지역 청년들이 안정적으로 정착할 수 있는 실효성 있는 정책으로 이어지길 기대한다”고 말했다.

이번 연구회는 단발성 연구에 그치지 않고, 구미시 청년 일자리 정책 전반에 걸쳐 지속적인 대안을 제시할 계획이다. 의회는 연구 결과를 토대로 정책 제안과 조례 제정 등 입법 활동으로 이어질 수 있도록 적극 검토할 방침이다.

Gumi City Council Chairman Park Kyo-sang said, “Although more than 8 trillion won has been invested since Mayor Kim Jang-ho took office, the employment perceived by young people is still insufficient due to the time lag between investment and employment.” He added, “I hope that this research group’s activities will lead to effective policies that will allow young people in the region to settle down stably.”

This research group will not stop at a one-time study, but will continuously present alternatives across the entire Gumi City youth employment policy. The council plans to actively review the research results so that they can lead to legislative activities such as policy proposals and ordinance enactment.
