【브레이크뉴스 대구 】박은정 기자=대구 서구는 최근 교통사고 잦은 곳에 대한 개선공사를 완료했다.

16일 서구청에 따르면 지난 3월부터 3억 8천만원을 투입해 교통사고가 잦은 곳으로 선정된 4개소에 교통환경 개선사업을 시행했다.

 개선대상은 대구경찰청과 도로교통공단이 최근 3년간 교통사고 자료 등을 면밀하게 분석해 개선이 꼭 필요한 곳, 개선 효과가 큰 곳 등을 중심으로 원대네거리, 서대구IC교차로, 대평리시장 북측, 대구폴리텍대학 앞 4개소를 사업대상지로 선정했다. 

주요 개선사항은 원대동행정복지센터 앞과 원대네거리 횡단보도 체계를 정비하면서 신호기 및 신호체계를 변경하고, 횡단보도 집중조명시설을 설치했다. 

 서대구IC 교차로에는 신천대로 및 가르뱅이 마을 진입차량의 시거 확보를 위해 LED전광판과 차량신호기를 설치하고, 신천대로에서 이현동 진입차량에 대한 속도저감시설을 설치하여 차량제동거리를 감소시켰다. 

대평리시장 북측은 공사차량의 빈번한 통행으로 파손되는 안전지대 주변을 정비하고 차량신호기를 추가 설치하여 횡단보도 앞에서 차량의 신호준수를 유도하여 보행자 사고를 줄이고자 했다. 

폴리텍대학 앞에는 횡단보도, 미끄럼방지포장, 차선도색을 설치하여 내리막길에서 발생할 수 있는 사고 예방에 중점을 두었다. 

 류한국 서구청장은 “해마다 발생되는 교통사고에서 우리 주민을 안전하게 지킬 수 있도록 교통사고 잦은 곳에 대한 개선사업을 발굴하여 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The north side of Daepyeong-ri Market tried to reduce pedestrian accidents by improving the safety zone around the damaged area due to the frequent passage of construction vehicles and installing additional vehicle signals to induce vehicles to obey the signals in front of the crosswalk.

In front of the Polytechnic University, a crosswalk, anti-skid pavement, and lane paint were installed to focus on preventing accidents that may occur on the downhill road.

 Ryu Hankook, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “We will continue to develop and promote improvement projects in places where traffic accidents occur frequently so that we can keep our residents safe from traffic accidents that occur every year.”
