서비스 대상 여권은 개인이 보관하고 있는 유효기간 경과 여권, 재발급으로 무효 처리된 여권으로 서비스를 이용하고자 하는 주민은 신분증과 여권을 지참하여 구청 종합민원과에 방문해 신청하면 된다.
폐기 신청한 전자여권은 한국조폐공사로 송부해 전문 폐기된다.
류한국 서구청장은 "여권 안심폐기 서비스를 통해 개인정보를 보호할 수 있어 주민 만족도가 높아질 것으로 기대된다. 앞으로도 주민 편의의 감동 서비스 제공에 힘쓰겠다"고 밝혔다.
