12일 예천군에 따르면 지난 6일부터 경주시 서라벌여중 양궁팀 7명(지도자 1명, 선수 6명)이 예천진호국제양궁장을 찾아 훈련을 시작했고, 8일부터는 울산대학교 양궁팀 4명(지도자 1명, 선수 3명)이 예천에서 구슬땀을 흘리고 있다.

또 오는 23일부터는 경북체육중학교 양궁팀 11명(지도자 2명, 선수 9명)이 예천을 찾는데 이어, 2월에는 관내 중학교 양궁팀을 비롯하여 대전 대청중과 부천 부일중 양궁팀이 예천에서 강도 높은 훈련을 진행할 예정이다.

3월 12일부터 19일까지 8일 동안 일본 양궁대표선수와 긴키대학교 선수로 구성된일본 전지훈련팀 70여 명이 예천군을 방문하여, 양궁을 통해 한일 간의 우애를 돈독히 할 예정이다.

예천군이 동계 전지훈련 장소로 각광을 받는 것은 2016년 리우 올림픽 양궁 총감독을 지낸 예천군청 양궁실업팀 문형철 감독과 올림픽 금메달리스트 장용호 코치로부터 체계적이고 우수한 양궁 기술을 배울 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 실내 양궁슈팅시설 등 훈련 인프라가 갖춰져 있기 때문으로 풀이되고 있다.
