【브레이크뉴스 안동】이성현 기자=한국국학진흥원(정종섭 원장) 부설 한문교육원은 지난 14일 본원 제1회의실에서 2024년 졸업식과 입학식을 개최했다고 15일 밝혔다.

2012년에 설립된 한문교육원은 문화체육관광부와 경상북도의 예산 지원 아래, 한문 고전을 바르게 이해하고 고문헌을 번역할 수 있는 인재를 양성하고 있다.

이날 연수과정 11명과 연구과정 4명이 졸업하고, 연수과정 14명, 연구과정 5명이 입학했다.

정종섭 원장은 한문 번역 전문가가 되기 위한 과정을 훌륭히 마친 졸업생들을 축하하는 동시에 세대를 뛰어넘어 새로운 삶을 개척하고 학문의 길에 들어서는 입학생들을 격려했다.

재학생 대표로 송사를 낭독한 오동건은 성독과 암송 등 선배들과의 즐거운 시간을 기억하며 ‘10기 선배님들의 졸업에 송별함’이라는 칠언율시를 직접 지어 낭독했다.

또한 졸업생 대표 허준원은 3년 동안 훌륭한 교수님들의 가르침을 받으면서 뜻을 같이 한 동학 및 후배들과 공부할 수 있어 행복한 시간이었다고 말했다.

한편 한문교육원은 전체 5년 과정으로 운영된다. 기초 교육 및 독해력 배양 중심의 연수과정 3년을 거치고 나면, 실력이 우수하고 번역에 뜻이 있는 5명만을 선발해 실무 중심 교육과 고문서 및 초서 심화 교육 과정을 2년 동안 밟는다.

단계별 교육을 마친 번역 인재들은 졸업 후, 고문헌 번역의 실무에 바로 투입된다. 한문교육원 연구과정 1~5기생들은 2017년부터 한국국학진흥원의 번역위원으로 활동하면서, 민간에서 소장해 온 지역 자료들을 번역하는 데 힘쓰고 있다.

수많은 전통 기록유산들은 여전히 번역의 목마름에 시달리고 있다. 인공지능 이 인간의 많은 일과 일자리를 앗아간다고 하지만, 인간의 내적 섬세함과 고도의 전문력과 정확성이 요구되는 것까지 해내기는 아직 어려운 실정이다.

또한 전통기록유산은 사회적·지역적 특성이 강하게 반영되는 문자가 많기 때문에 지역과 문화에 대한 섬세한 이해가 필요하다. 이를 위해 한문교육원에서는 학생들이 공부에 전념할 수 있도록 장려금과 지원금을 지원하고 생활관을 운영하는 등 다양한 혜택을 제공하고 있다.

63만여 점의 많은 기록유산을 소장하고 있는 한국국학진흥원은 앞으로 한문 번역 전문가 양성과 함께 지역 내 번역 사업을 확대하여, 지역사회와 번역가들의 일자리 창출에 기여할 계획이다.

The Institute for the Advancement of Korean Studies (Director Jeong Jong-seop)'s Chinese Language Education Institute announced on the 15th that it held the 2024 graduation and entrance ceremony in the first conference room of the institute on the 14th.

Established in 2012, the Chinese Character Education Center trains talents who can properly understand classic Chinese characters and translate ancient texts under the budget support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gyeongsangbuk-do.

On this day, 11 people in the training course and 4 people in the research course graduated, and 14 people in the training course and 5 people in the research course entered.

Director Jeong Jong-seop congratulated the graduates who successfully completed the course to become Chinese translation experts, and encouraged the incoming students who are pioneering new lives and entering the academic path beyond generations.

Oh Dong-geon, who read the eulogy as a representative of the students, remembered the fun times he had with his seniors, including reading and reciting, and composed and recited a seven-word poem called ‘Farewell to the 10th class of seniors on their graduation.’

In addition, Heo Jun-won, the graduate representative, said that it was a happy time to be able to study with like-minded Donghak students and juniors while being taught by great professors for three years.

  Meanwhile, the Chinese Language Education Center operates as a five-year course. After three years of basic education and training focused on cultivating reading comprehension skills, only five people with excellent skills and a passion for translation are selected to undergo two years of practical training and in-depth training in ancient documents and cursive writing.

   Translation talents who have completed step-by-step training are immediately put into the field of old document translation after graduation. Students from the 1st to 5th classes of the Chinese Language Education Institute's research course have been working as translation committee members of the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Korean Studies since 2017 and are working to translate local materials collected from the private sector.

   Many traditional documentary heritages still suffer from the thirst for translation. Although artificial intelligence is said to take away many jobs from humans, it is still difficult to achieve tasks that require human inner delicacy, high level of expertise, and accuracy.

In addition, traditional documentary heritage has many texts that strongly reflect social and regional characteristics, so a detailed understanding of the region and culture is necessary. To this end, the Chinese Language Education Center provides various benefits, such as providing incentives and subsidies and operating a dormitory, so that students can focus on their studies.

   The Korea Institute for the Advancement of Korean Studies, which owns over 630,000 pieces of recorded heritage, plans to expand its local translation business by training Chinese translation experts and contributing to job creation for the local community and translators.
