【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청(교육감 임종식)은 지역 거점형 늘봄센터를 추가로 개관할 계획이라고 22일 밝혔다.

지난해 포항에 처음 문을 연 ‘늘봄 포항’에 이어 오는 11월 안동, 2027년 3월 구미의 지역 거점형 늘봄센터가 문을 연다.

거점형 늘봄센터는 여러 학교 학생들이 함께 이용할 수 있는 공동 돌봄 기관으로, 학교 내외 유휴 공간을 활용해 방과 후 안전한 돌봄 환경과 다양한 교육 프로그램을 제공한다.

특히 과밀학교 지역이나 소규모학교 인근 지역 등 돌봄 수요가 높은 곳에 설치되어, 기존 학교 단위 돌봄 운영에서 발생하는 대기자 문제, 인원 부족, 프로그램의 단조로움 등을 보완하는 역할을 한다.

현재 운영 중인 ‘늘봄 포항’은 송림초등학교 별관을 리모델링해 2023년 9월 개소했으며, 인근 초등학교 9개교의 1~5학년 학생들이 참여하고 있다.

늘봄센터는 오후 8시까지 운영되며, 학생들의 안전한 이동을 위해 통학 차량을 지원하고, 전담인력과 자원봉사자가 배치된다. 간식과 저녁식사, 다양한 프로그램은 모두 무상으로 제공된다.

경북교육청은 앞으로 학생 성장에 맞춘 교육, 진로 탐색 등 맞춤형 프로그램을 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

임종식 교육감은 “지역별 늘봄 수요에 대응해 거점형 센터를 확대하고 있으며, 학교 안팎 공간을 활용해 안정적인 돌봄 서비스를 제공하겠다”고 말했다.

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 22nd that it plans to open additional regional hub-type Neulbom centers.

Following the first ‘Neulbom Pohang’ that opened in Pohang last year, regional hub-type Neulbom centers will open in Andong in November and Gumi in March 2027.

Hub-type Neulbom centers are joint care facilities that students from multiple schools can use together, and they provide a safe after-school care environment and various educational programs by utilizing idle spaces inside and outside of schools.

They are installed in areas with high demand for care, such as overcrowded school areas or areas near small schools, and play a role in supplementing the waiting list, lack of personnel, and monotony of programs that occur in existing school-based care operations.

The currently operating ‘Neulbom Pohang’ was opened in September 2023 by remodeling the Songnim Elementary School annex, and students in grades 1 to 5 from nine nearby elementary schools are participating.

The Neulbom Center will be open until 8 p.m., and will provide transportation for students to safely travel, and will be staffed by dedicated staff and volunteers. Snacks, dinner, and various programs are all provided free of charge.

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to expand customized programs such as education and career exploration tailored to student growth in the future.

Superintendent Lim Jong-sik said, “We are expanding the base center to respond to the demand for Neulbom in each region, and will provide stable care services by utilizing spaces inside and outside of schools.”
