이는 전년도 11조 8,677억원 대비 8,679억원(약 7.3%) 증가한 수치로, 새 정부 출범으로 정책 환경이 급변한 상황에서도 선제적 대응과 체계적 전략이 결실을 맺은 결과로 평가된다.

민선 8기 4년간 경북도의 국비 확보 성과는 전국에서 가장 두드러진 것으로, 2023년 10조 9,514억원에서 2026년 12조 7,356억원으로 총 1조 7,842억원 증가했다. 연평균 증가율은 5% 이상으로, 체계적이고 치밀한 국비 확보 전략이 꾸준히 실행된 결과라는 분석이다.

경북도는 올해 초부터 국비 12조 3천억원을 목표로 설정하고, 이철우 도지사를 중심으로 사업별 관계부처와 기획재정부, 국회 상임위 및 예결위 등을 방문하며 맞춤형 예산 대응 전략을 펼쳤다. 정부 정책과 지역균형발전, 경제적 파급효과를 종합적으로 분석해 중앙부처가 경북의 핵심 현안을 국가적 과제로 인식하도록 한 것이 성과로 이어졌다.

연구개발(R&D) 분야에서는 AI·반도체 중심 신규 사업이 반영됐으며, AI융합 차세대 펩타이드 디자인 플랫폼 구축 36억원, 수요확대형 배터리 테스트베드 30억원, 반도체 장비 소재부품 테스트베드 15억원, 그래핀 2차원 나노소재 AI 기반 실증 10억원 등이 확보됐다. 이밖에도 혁신형 소형모듈원자로 기술개발사업 636억원, 문무대왕과학연구소 설립 188억원, 나곡매립장 확장·증설 13억원 등이 포함됐다.
