또 "민주당은 더 이상 책임을 회피하지 말고 통합에 대한 찬성과 추진 의지를 명확히 밝혀야 한다"고 촉구했다. 특히 "대구시장 출마설이 도는 민주당 인사들 역시 시민들 앞에 책임 있는 입장을 내놔야 한다"고 덧붙였다.
아울러 "통합 논의는 막으면서 선거 때는 대구의 미래를 이야기하는 건 시민을 기만하는 행위"라며 "이 같은 침묵과 회피가 계속된다면 시민들은 그것을 사실상의 입장 표명으로 받아들일 것"이라고 했다.
국민의힘 의원들은 오는 19일 예정된 국회 본회의를 앞두고 "더불어민주당과 법제사법위원장은 더는 처리를 미뤄선 안 된다"며 "만약 법안 처리가 또다시 막힌다면, 시민들의 심판을 받게 될 것"이라고 경고했다.
