안동시의회는 이날 오전 경북도청 동문과 서문 일대에서 행정통합 반대 출근길 피켓시위를 펼쳤다. 시위에는 시의원 18명과 안동출신 도의원 5명, 정동호·김휘동 전 안동시장, 통합반대 범시민연대 소속 유관단체 회원 등 100여명이 동참했다. 지난 2월 안동시청 앞 출근길 피켓시위가 시작된 이래 최대 규모라고 안동시의회는 밝혔다.

범시민연대는 성명에서 “두 단체장의 선거일정에 맞춰 졸속으로 처리되는 대구경북 행정통합 추진을 절대로 인정할 수 없다”며 “행정통합 논의가 중단될 때까지 반대운동을 끝까지 펼쳐나갈 것”이라 밝혔다.

출근길 시위에 이어선 김호석 안동시의회 의장 등 의장단과 도의원, 범시민연대 간부회원들이 도지사실을 방문해 행정통합 반대 촉구건의문을 전달하기도 했다.

안동시의회는 기존 안동시청 앞 출근길 피켓시위를 4월부터는 경북도청 동문으로 장소를 옮겨 진행할 계획인 것으로 알려졌다. 

김호석 의장은 “대구경북 행정통합은 안동과 예천, 도청신도시까지 모두 다 공멸하는 길”이라고 강조하며 “이철우 지사는 행정통합 논의를 즉각 중단하고, 경북도청 이전사업에 집중해 줄 것”을 재차 촉구했다.
