15일 국회 정개특위가 제8회 전국동시지방선거에서 기초의원 중대선거구제 시범 실시를 골자로 한 공직선거법 개정안을 통과시켰다.
이에 따라 전국의 기초의원 선거구 ▲서울 4곳 ▲경기 3곳 ▲인천 1곳 ▲대구 1곳 ▲광주 1곳 ▲충남 1곳 등 11개 지역이 3~5인 중대선거구제를 실시하게 되었으며 대구의 경우 수성 을이 시범실시 지역으로 포함된 것으로 알려진다.
이와 함께 정개특위는 기초의원 중대선거구제 도입 취지를 실질적으로 구현하기 위해 현행 공직선거법 내 '4인 이상 선출 선거구의 분할 가능' 규정은 삭제하기로 하였으며 광역·기초의원의 총 정수 90명 증원, 장애인·청년 후보자에 대한 기탁금 인하 등의 내용이 포함되었다.
아울러 국회·지방의회의원 선거에서 여성·장애인 후보자들을 추천하는 정당에게 추천 비율에 따라 보조금을 차등 지급하는 정치자금법 개정안 등도 이날 통과됐다.
통과된 법안들은 오후 국회 법제사법위원회를 거쳐 본회의에 상정될 것으로 보인다.
