국민의힘 이철우 경북도지사 후보는 14일 ‘도민캠프 개소(開所) 데이(Day)’를 열고 본격 선거운동을 알렸다.

기존의 선거운동에서 탈피해 하여 선거대책위원회 없이 선거에 임하고 있는 이 후보의 이날 행사에는 의례히 등장하는 고위당직자, 국회의원 등 정치인들이 초대되지 않았다. 

대신 오전 9시부터 저녁 7시까지 계속된 ‘도민캠프 개소 Day’에는 아침부터 많은 도민들이 방문해 이철우 후보와 정책건의, 셀카촬영 등 응원을 이어갔고, 부부 교사 출신인 이 후보 내외의 제자들이 꽃다발을 전하며 선전을 기원했다. 또한, 대통령 취임식에 참석한 세계한인협회 회원 20여 명이 독도 방문을 다녀오는 길에 이 후보의 개소식을 찾아 눈길을 끌었다. 

이철우 후보의 후원회장을 맡고 있는 김관용 전 경북도지사는“이 후보는 언제나 도민과 국민만 바라보고 뜨거운 열정으로 헌신해 왔다”면서 “경북을 향한 희생과 봉사의 새로운 여정을 위해 당당한 비전과 소신으로 도민의 끝없는 사랑을 이어가길 바란다”고 말했다.
