【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자=  대구시가 2021년 실적 기준 온실가스 감축량 산정 결과, 총 152만톤의 온실가스를 감축 하는등 2050 탄소중립 달성을 위해 온실가스 감축에 박차를 가하고 있다고 밝혔다.

이는 2021년 배출전망치(1,146만톤)의 13.3%에 해당하는 양으로 당초 목표했던 감축률 12%(132만톤)를 초과 달성했다.

24일, 시에 따르면 주요 감축 내용으로 시민 실천사업인 탄소포인트제 가입 실적으로 31만톤, 도시가스 및 신재생에너지 보급으로 56만톤, 전기차 등 친환경 자동차 보급과 보행분담률 개선으로 47만톤을 감축했다. 

대구시는 지난 2010년 7월 전국 지자체 중 최초로 자체 기후변화대응 기본계획을 수립해 기후변화 대응을 시정 아젠다로 격상시킨 바 있으며, 온실가스 감축량 전면 산정 및 공개도 2020년 실적분부터 대구시가 전국에서 최초이자 유일하게 시행해 기후 위기에 맞서 타 지자체보다 한 발 더 빠르게 대응하고 있다.

또 글로벌 탈탄소 전환 캠페인인 Race to Zero(RtZ)에도 2021년 전국 최초로 가입해 글로벌 ESG 평가지표인 탄소공개프로젝트(CDP, Carbon Disclosure Project)의 탄소중립 이행보고를 통해, 2021년 평가결과 Leadership(A-)등급을 획득해 탄소중립 성과를 국제적으로도 인정받고 있다.

대구시는 지자체 최초로 ‘매립가스 자원화사업’과 시 소유 환경기초시설을 대상으로 하는 온실가스 감축 제도인 ‘온실가스 배출권거래제’를 추진해 지금까지 총 580억원의 세입을 확보했다.

특히, 2021년에는 온실가스 배출권거래제를 운영하는 광역지자체 중 유일하게 배출권 매도 수익을 창출했다.

대구시는 시 본청, 소방서 등 공공 청사 및 시설물을 대상으로 하는 공공부문 온실가스 목표관리제에서도 2021년 정부 온실가스 감축목표인 32%를 크게 상회하는 55% 감축률을 달성했다.

지난해에도 감축률 49%(정부 목표 30%)에 이어 공공부문 온실가스 감축 성과 5년 연속 광역지자체 1위에 올랐다.

홍성주 대구시 환경수자원국장은 “탄소중립은 시민들의 일상생활과 경제활동의 지형을 바꿀 이슈가 되고 있다”며, “기후위기를 ‘미래번영 대구’의 계기로 전환할 수 있도록 탄소중립을 선제적으로 준비하겠다”고 밝혔다.
