【브레이크뉴스 김천】이성현 기자=김천시새마을회(회장 임영식)가 지난 1970년부터 현재까지 새마을운동의 발자취와 역사를 기록한 ‘김천시새마을운동 50년사’를 발간했다.

16일 시에 따르면 김천시새마을운동 50년사는 제1편 김천시 일반현황, 제2편 새마을운동 일반현황, 제3편 김천시새마을운동 현황, 제4편 읍면동 새마을운동 현황, 부록과 함께 총 480쪽으로 구성되어 있다.

새마을운동 발전과정, 역대회장단, 화보집, 언론보도, 지도자 체험수기, 새마을 국제화사업 등 반세기의 내용이 총망라한 새마을운동 변천사가 고스란히 담겨져 있다.

특히, 금번 50년사는 기록물 기증 캠페인 및 백서 발간위원회 구성 등 시민과 함께 만들어가는 백서로 그 의미를 더했다.

임영식 김천시새마을회장은 “김천시새마을운동 50년사 발간은 우리시 새마을운동의 위상을 높이는 것”이라며, “헌신 봉사하신 새마을지도자들의 노고를 기록함으로써 미래세대에 귀감이 될 것이고, 새마을가족 모두의 자긍심이 고취되는 계기가 되길 바란다.”고 말했다.

김충섭 김천시장은 “새마을운동의 생생한 50여년 역사를 체계적으로 기록한 백서 발간을 축하드린다.”며, “이번 백서가 지나온 50년의 역사를 되돌아보고, 다가올 50년의 길잡이가 되기를 기대한다.”고 말했다.
