지난 20일 열린 간담회에는 간담회는 심청보 칠곡군의회 의장과 관계기관인 경북도 남부건설사업소, 도로교통공단 경북지부, 칠곡군, 칠곡경찰서, 주민들이 참여한 가운데 진행되었다.

이들은 칠곡군 내 교통사고 다발지역 중 한 곳인 중리교차로(국도 76호선 구간)의 교통신호 및 도로 구조 문제점 진단과 개선방안 도출을 위해 논의를 진행했다.

이날 관계기관과 주민들이 여러 가지 안을 제시한 가운데 교통사고 다발지역에 50km 과속단속카메라 설치를 추진하는 것으로 방침이 정해졌다. 근본적인 후속 방안은 설치 후 3개월 뒤 시범운영 결과를 바탕으로 인접도로와 연계해서 추후 논의하기로 했다.

박순범 의원은 “생명은 예산보다 중요하기에 지역의 고질적인 난제를 해결하고자 현장 간담회를 열어 최단기간 내 적용할 수 있는 방안을 도출해낼 수 있었다”고 밝히며 “경북도가 ‘교통신호운영 TF’를 운영 중인 세종시처럼 교통신호 및 도로 구조 개선 협력체계를 구축해야 한다.”고 말했다. 아울러 그는 조례 제정과 상위법 개정 건의안을 추진할 예정이다.
