이날 서구 주민에 따르면 이날 오후 2시께 유입된 검정 폐수는 약 1시간30분이 넘도록 하수관로로 흘러나왔다.<사진>

원인 규명을 위해 합동점검반은 현재 염색산단 특정 사업장 13곳의 염료 배합실에서 추적 색소를 이용한 점검을 실시 중이다.  염료 배합실의 물이 빠지는 곳에 특정 색소를 푼 다량의 물을 투입한 후 이동 경로를 살펴보는 방식이다.

점검은 하루에 한 업체를 대상으로 할 수 있어서 최소 2주 이상 진행할 것으로 전망된다.

방류 경위를 파악할 때까지는 속수무책으로 폐수 유출을 지켜볼 수 밖에 없는 상황 이어서 시민들의 불안감은 가중되고 있다.
