이무현 교수는 성형외과 조태희 교수와 함께 올해 1월부터 다빈치SP 로봇장비를 이용해 유방절제 및 재건술도 활발히 시행하고 있다.
유방암 환자 겨드랑이에 3.5cm 정도의 작은 절개창을 내어 유방을 절제하고, 그 부위를 통해 유방을 재건하는 방식이다. 작은 절개창 하나에서 유방절제와 액와림프절 수술, 유방 재건술이 동시에 진행되므로 특별한 수술 후유증 없이 회복할 수 있다는 장점이 있다.
이처럼 다빈치SP 로봇수술은 잘 보이지 않는 부위로 수술상처를 감출 수 있고, 흉터의 길이도 더욱 짧아지므로 환자들의 만족감도 높은 편이다.
