법률안은 현재 열리고 있는 정기국회 일정대로라면 12월 초에 행안위 전체회의, 법사위를 거쳐 본회의에서 통과될 것으로 전망된다.
지난해 12월 대구시는 군위군 편입에 따른 행정 공백을 없애고 주민 불편을 최소화하기 위해 후속 조치계획을 마련해 시 산하 각 기관·부서에 시달해 소관업무에 대한 면밀한 현황 파악을 통해 업무인수에 차질 없도록 준비하고 있다.
따라서 법률안이 통과되면 각 실·국별 소관분야에 대한 업무인수 실행을 위한 실무추진단과 경북도·군위군 간 주요업무 협의 등을 위한 공동협의회를 본격적으로 가동하는 등 후속 조치들이 탄력을 받을 전망이다.
홍준표 대구시장은 “군위군의 대구 편입은 대구미래 50년과 국가균형발전을 위해 하늘길을 여는 대구경북통합신공항 건설사업의 성공적인 추진을 위한 첫 출발이다”며, “법률안의 연내 국회통과를 위해 끝까지 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
