이철우 경상북도지사가 20일 군위군을 찾아 "통합신공항의 성공적인 건설"을 다짐했다. 이 지사는 또 군위군의 대구광역시 편입에 대한 지역민들의 노력과 결단에 감사를 전했다.

스물두 번째 ‘새바람 행복버스 현장 간담회’로 열린 이날 간담회에는 이 지사를 비롯해 김영만 군위군수, 박창석 도의원, 군위 지역 사회단체장과 통합신공항 및 대구편입 민간대표 등 40여명이 참석했다.

이철우 지사가 직접 주재한 간담회는 경북도의회의 군위군 대구시 편입안 찬성의결에 대한 군민의 환영 분위기를 반영하듯 감사 인사와 함께 성공적인 통합신공항 건설에 대한 정책건의가 이어졌다.

경북도에 따르면 먼저, 군위군 대구 편입과 관련한 당사자 의견은 모두 수렴된 만큼 연말까지 대구시 편입이 최종 결정될 수 있도록 해달라는 요청에 정부와 정치권에 최대한 신속하게 관련 법률안 제정을 요청하겠다라고 답했다.

또 군위군과 군민들도 주인의식을 갖고 적극적으로 협조해 줄 것을 당부했다.

대구편입 조건 이외에 민간공항 터미널, 공항진입로 군위 배치 등 공동합의문의 다른 이행 조건들의 성실한 이행 요청에 대해서는 공동합의문 5개 사항에 대한 이행을 위해 용역 등 관련 절차를 추진 중이라며 차질 없이 이행될 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것이라고 화답했다.

성공적인 통합신공항 건설과 관련해 군공항 이전 특별법 이외에 민간공항 이전을 위한 특별법 제정 건의에 대해서는 특별법이 없어도 신공항 건설에 큰 지장이 없다는 점을 분명히 했다.

그러면서, 기존 법률 틀 안에서 신속하게 추진하도록 최선을 다하면서 지속해서 특별법 제정을 추진하는 것이 현명하다는 의견을 제시했다.

민간공항의 구체적 규모에 대해서는 민간공항이 세계적인 공항이 되기 위해서는 민항의 규모, 특히 활주로의 길이가 3.2km 이상 돼야 한다는 의견에 대해서는 장래 항공수요를 감안해 충분한 규모의 공항이 계획에 반영될 수 있도록 국토부 등과 지속해서 협의할 것이라고 했다.
