지난 20일, 대구대는 외국인 유학생들이 한 해를 뜻 깊게 마무리하고 새해를 축하할 수 있도록 기숙사 로비에 크리스마스 소망 트리를 설치하고 새해 소망이 담긴 메모를 달 수 있도록 했다.

또한 기숙사에 입사해 있는 외국인 유학생 270여 명을 대상으로 간식이 담긴 쿠키박스를 전달하고, 행운권 추첨 등의 이벤트를 진행했다고 전했다.

특히 이번 행사에는 대학 캐릭터인 ‘두두’가 직접 외국인 학생들에게 선물을 나눠주며 따뜻함을 나눴다. 학생들은 두두와 찍은 사진 등을 SNS에 올리며 호응을 보냈다.

양이제 학생(한국어교육학부 1학년, 중국)은 “연말 크리스마스 때는 고향 생각이 더 많이 나기 마련인데, 대학에서 이렇게 깜짝 이벤트를 준비해 줘서 감사하다.”고 전했다.

류혜경 대구대 국제처장은 “대구대는 1,500여 명의 외국인 학생들이 함께 공부하고 있는데, 이들이 외롭지 않고 건강한 유학 생활을 이어갈 수 있도록 다양한 프로그램을 운영하는 등 지원을 아끼지 않겠다.”고 말했다.
