군에 따르면 이번 공모사업은 달성군 구지면 대구 국가산업단지내에 ‘구지 근로자 복합문화센터’를 건립하는 사업으로 수영장, 문화강좌실, 영유아돌봄센터 등이 설치된다.

이번 특별교부세 지원으로 구지지역 내 문화인프라에 대한 부족을 해소할 수 있을 것으로 예상되며, 당초 계획 중이었던 복합문화센터 건립사업이 탄력을 받아 사업기간도 당초보다 앞당겨 2027년 개관을 목표로 하고 있다.

대구 국가산업단지 주변은 415개 이상의 기업에서 1만 4천여 명의 근로자가 근무하고 있으며, 최근 앨엔에프에서 2조 5,500억원의 대규모 투자유치 성사 때에도 구지 지역 내 정주여건 개선이 필요하다는 지적을 받을 만큼 구지지역 내 문화인프라 개선은 최우선 과제였다.

달성군은 이번사업의 중요성을 감안하여 공모사업 선정 심의위원회에서 직접 사업을 설명하는 등 적극적인 행보로 특별교부세를 확보하게 됐다.

최재훈 달성군수는 “기존 주민들과 산업단지 내 근로자들이 서로 상생할 수 있는 공간으로 조성하여 화합과 소통의 장으로 복합문화센터를 만들 예정이다.”고 앞으로의 포부를 밝혔다.
