【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=달성군(군수 최재훈)은 7월 24일, 지역 최초의 어린이·영유아 특화 도서관인 ‘달성어린이숲도서관’의 개관식을 개최하고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.
달성어린이숲도서관은 현풍읍 테크노중앙대로에 위치한 달성군교육문화복지센터 내에 연면적 3,299㎡, 지상 3층 규모로 조성됐다. 단순한 독서 공간을 넘어 책, 놀이, 창의 체험이 유기적으로 결합된 복합문화공간으로, 어린이의 상상력과 창의력 향상에 도움을 줄 새로운 개념의 ‘어린이 전문 도서관’으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

추 의원은 “아이들이 책과 놀이, 다양한 체험을 통해 자연스럽게 꿈을 키워나갈 수 있는 공간은 곧 지역의 경쟁력”이라며 “달성어린이숲도서관은 달성이 아이 키우기 좋은 도시로 한 단계 도약하는 계기가 될 것”이라고 평가했다. 이어 “앞으로도 교육·문화·복지 분야의 국비 지원과 제도적 뒷받침에 힘쓰겠다”고 덧붙였다.
최재훈 군수는 “이 도서관은 아이들의 상상력과 창의성을 키우는 동시에 부모와 함께 소통할 수 있는 복합문화공간”이라며 “놀이와 체험이 어우러진 다양한 프로그램을 통해 아이들이 즐겁게 책을 접하고, 스스로 생각하는 힘을 기를 수 있도록 돕겠다”고 밝혔다.
달성군은 향후 도서관을 중심으로 다양한 독서문화 프로그램과 가족 참여형 체험활동을 확대 운영해, ‘아이 키우기 좋은 달성’이라는 슬로건에 걸맞은 정책을 지속 추진할 방침이다.
