7일 오전 10시 국민의힘 대구시당은 윤리위원회를 열고 배태숙 의장의 징계를 논의한 끝에 7명 전원 일치로 제명을 의결했다.

중구의회 배태숙 의장은 2022년 차명으로 세운 인쇄·판촉물 업체를 통해 중구청과 불법 수의계약 9건을 체결한 혐의다. 또 대구 북구에 거주하면서 주민등록상에는 중구로 주소를 허위 신고한 혐의도 받고 있다.

신봉기 윤리위원장은 “위법 사실 자체가 규모를 떠나 반복적으로 이뤄지는 것에 대해 가볍게 볼 수 있는 사안은 아니라고 판단했다”고 말했다.

이와 함께 권경숙, 김효린 중구의원에 대해서도 “윤리위에서도 인지하고 있다”며 “당원이나 대구시민들의 수준에 맞춰 적정하게 대응을 하기로 이야기 나눴다”고 설명했다.

국민의힘 대구시당은 “운영위원회를 통해 징계를 확정 지을 예정”이라고 밝혔다.

한편 배태숙 의장은 시드니로 공무국외출장을 떠나 윤리위원회에 불참했다.
