【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시의회(의장 이동협) 의원연구단체인 ‘경주 포스트 APEC 전략연구회’(대표의원 정희택)가 11일 시의회 소회의실에서 ‘APEC 이후 경주의 지속가능한 발전 전략 수립 연구용역’ 최종보고회를 열었다.

이번 보고회에서는 APEC 정상회의 개최 성과를 경주의 중장기적 성장 동력으로 발전시키기 위한 7개 분야 전략이 제시됐다. 주요 전략은 ▲세계 10대 문화관광·MICE 도시 도약 ▲연간 1,000만 명 체류형 관광객 시대 실현 ▲외국인 관광객 200만 명 유치 ▲신라통일평화공원·APEC 문화전당 등 핵심 관광·문화 인프라 구축 ▲보문관광단지 2.0 리노베이션 추진 ▲지역 브랜드 강화 및 청년 정주환경 확대 ▲시민 참여 거버넌스 확립 등이다.

또한 중앙정부·경상북도·경주시와 민간·시민이 함께 참여하는 다층적 거버넌스 체계 구축, 재원 조달 방안, 성과관리 체계 등 실행 기반에 관한 종합적인 제안도 포함됐다.

정희택 대표의원은 “APEC 정상회의는 경주의 국제적 위상을 한 단계 높인 계기였다”며 “이 성과를 지속 가능한 발전으로 이어가기 위해서는 시민 참여가 필수적이며, APEC 시민대학 상설화 등을 통해 시민 의식을 강화하고 시민 중심의 도시 발전을 추진해야 한다”고 말했다.

경주시의회는 이번 최종보고회를 토대로 향후 15년간 적용할 포스트 APEC 발전 전략을 구체화해 경주가 세계적 문화·해양·MICE 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 정책 연계를 강화할 계획이다.

Representative Council Member Jeong Hee-taek stated, "The APEC Summit was an opportunity to elevate Gyeongju's international status to a new level. To ensure this achievement leads to sustainable development, citizen participation is essential. We must strengthen civic awareness and promote citizen-centered urban development through initiatives such as establishing a permanent APEC Citizens' University."

Based on this final report, the Gyeongju City Council plans to concretize a post-APEC development strategy for the next 15 years and strengthen policy coordination to help Gyeongju leap forward as a world-class cultural, maritime, and MICE city.
