첫 방문지인 라원은 올해 9월 준공을 마쳤으며, 2026년 4월 정식 개장을 목표로 준비가 한창이다. 동궁원과 보문관광단지와의 연계를 통해 다양한 프로그램을 운영함으로써 경주의 새로운 관광 랜드마크로 자리 잡을 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

이어 위원회는 신라왕경 핵심유적 복원·정비 사업 현장을 찾아 추진 상황과 향후 일정을 보고받았다. 신라왕경 복원 사업은 경주의 역사·문화 정체성을 강화하고 도시 브랜드 가치를 높이는 핵심 사업으로 꼽힌다.

위원들은 17개 핵심유적 복원 구역을 중심으로 현장 안전지침 준수 여부, 진행 과정의 미비점 등을 면밀히 확인했으며, 향후 사업 추진 방향에 대해서도 의견을 나눴다.

박광호 위원장은 “라원과 신라왕경 핵심유적 복원 사업은 단순한 시설 조성이 아니라 경주의 도시 정체성과 미래 경쟁력을 만들어가는 중요한 과업”이라며 “오늘 현장에서 확인한 사항들을 바탕으로 의회 차원에서도 지속적인 관심과 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
