【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시의회(의장 이동협)는 29일 본회의장에서 제295회 임시회 제1차 본회의를 열고 2026년도 회기 일정을 본격적으로 시작했다.

이날 본회의에 앞서 5분 자유발언이 이어졌다. 최재필 의회운영위원장은 외국인 관광객 유치를 확대하기 위한 관광 정책 보완 방향을 제시했으며, 이락우 2025APEC정상회의추진지원특별위원장은 아시아·태평양 AI 센터의 경주 유치를 촉구했다. 이어 한순희 의원은 경주시 실버체육 활성화의 필요성과 추진 방안을, 박광호 문화도시위원장은 노인 공경을 통한 품격 있는 경주 구현을 주제로 각각 발언했다.

제1차 본회의에서는 제295회 임시회 회기결정의 건을 비롯해 2026년도 시정에 관한 보고,  2025회계연도 결산검사위원 선임의 건,  경주시 공동주택 공용시설 지원 심의위원회 등 위원 추천의 건 등을 차례로 처리했다.

이번 임시회 기간 중 1월 30일부터 2월 4일까지는 휴회에 들어가며, 각 상임위원회에서는 2026년도 주요업무보고와 2025년도 공모사업 추진현황 보고를 비롯해 조례안 3건, 보고 2건 등 총 7건의 안건을 심사·청취할 예정이다.

한편 김동해 의원은 경주시 주차장 조례 일부개정조례안을 대표 발의했다.

이동협 의장은 개회사에서 “2026년은 역대급 재정 확보를 바탕으로 포스트 APEC 시대 경주의 새로운 도약을 준비해야 하는 중요한 시기”라며 “인구 위기 등 당면 과제 해결을 위해 현장 중심의 소통을 강화하고, 시민의 목소리가 시정에 적극 반영되도록 의회가 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.

제295회 임시회는 오는 2월 5일 제2차 본회의를 끝으로 8일간의 일정을 마무리할 예정이다.

Gyeongju City Council Convenes 295th Extraordinary Session… 2026 Session Schedule Begins in Full Swing

The Gyeongju City Council (Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop) held the first plenary session of its 295th Extraordinary Session in its main conference hall on the 29th, officially kicking off its 2026 session.

The plenary session was preceded by a five-minute free speech session. Council Steering Committee Chairman Choi Jae-pil proposed ways to improve tourism policies to attract more foreign tourists, while Lee Rak-woo, Chairman of the Special Committee for Supporting the 2025 APEC Summit, urged Gyeongju to host the Asia-Pacific AI Center. Councilmember Han Soon-hee then addressed the need for and implementation of senior sports in Gyeongju, while Culture City Committee Chairman Park Gwang-ho addressed the topic of creating a dignified Gyeongju through respect for seniors.

The first plenary session addressed the agenda for the 295th extraordinary session, including a report on the 2026 city administration, the appointment of the 2025 fiscal year audit committee, and recommendations for members of the Gyeongju City Apartment Complex Public Facility Support Review Committee.

During this extraordinary session, the council will be in recess from January 30th to February 4th. Each standing committee will review and hear a total of seven agenda items, including a report on key tasks for 2026 and the progress of the 2025 public offering project, as well as three proposed ordinances and two reports.

Meanwhile, Councilman Kim Dong-hae proposed a partial amendment to the Gyeongju City Parking Lot Ordinance.

In his opening remarks, Speaker Lee Dong-hyeop emphasized, "2026 is a crucial year for Gyeongju to prepare for a new leap forward in the post-APEC era, building on its record-breaking fiscal capacity." He added, "To address pressing issues such as the population crisis, we will strengthen field-oriented communication and do our utmost to ensure that citizens' voices are actively reflected in city administration."

The 295th extraordinary session is scheduled to conclude its eight-day schedule with the second plenary session on February 5th.
