허시영 의원은 “대구시가 올해 역대 최대규모인 11,462대의 친환경자동차 보급계획을 발표한 것과는 대조적으로 대구시에 등록된 친환경자동차 전문 정비업체는 단 1개소도 없다.”고 지적하며 “친환경차 보급 확산에 발맞춘 정비산업 육성이 필요하다.”고 밝혔다.

그러면서 “환경친화적 자동차 보급 확산에 발맞추어 관련 정비산업의 육성과 체계적인 지원 근거를 마련하고자 조례안 제정을 추진하게 됐다.”고 조례안 제정의 취지를 설명했다.

이에 따라 허 의원은 “조례안에 대구시장은 친환경자동차 정비산업 분야의 현황 및 실태 분석, 전문인력 양성 및 교육, 조사·연구 및 홍보, 각 기관 간의 협력체계 구축 등과 관련된 ‘기본계획’ 수립과 ‘지원사업’을 추진해 환경친화적 자동차의 정비산업 기반을 조성하도록 규정했다.”고 밝혔다.

허시영 의원은 “대구시는 그동안 전기자동차 선도도시 조성에 박차를 가하며 전기차 보급과 충전인프라 확대에 주력하다 보니, 친환경자동차 정비산업 분야 육성에는 소홀한 점이 있었다.”며 “이번 조례제정으로 향후 폭발적으로 늘어날 환경친화적 자동차 정비 수요에 선제적으로 대응해 시민들이 환경친화적 자동차를 안전하고 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 토대가 마련될 것으로 생각한다.”고 덧붙여 말했다.

해당 조례는 건설교통위원회의 안건심사를 통과하여 오는 24일 본회의 의결을 앞두고 있다.
