대구시 수도 요금 인상을 앞두고 지역 시민사회단체가 비판에 나섰다.
대구참여연대는 9일 성명서를 내고 "대구시의 수도 요금 인상은 크게 두 가지 이유로 시기상조라 볼 수 있다"고 밝혔다.
그러면서 "2021년 결산자료가 확정되지 않았기 때문이다. 또 2021년 결산자료는 지방선거 후 9대 시의회에서 승인되므로 8대 시의회가 2024년까지 계획된 요금인상안을 결정하는 건 무리가 있다"며"시급한 문제가 아니라면 9대 시의회에서 충분히 검토하여 결정하는 것이 타당하다."고 주장했다.
이어 "현재 코로나19로 인해 민생위기가 커지고 있는 이런 상황에 수도 요금이 인상되면 가계 부담과 자영업자들의 부담이 커지고 다른 물가의 상승에 영향을 미쳐 서민경제를 더 악화시킬 우려가 있다"고 꼬집었다.
단체는" 지금 시기에 수도 요금 인상을 결정하기에는 무리가 있다. 지금 당장 결정하기보다는 시간을 두고 공론화 과정을 거쳐 차분히 봐야 할 이유만 있는 셈이다."며 "시의회는 현재 입법예고 된 수도급수 조례개정안을 부결하고 9대 시의회에서 논의될 수 있도록 해야 한다고"고 강조했다.
한편 ‘대구광역시 수도급수 조례 일부개정조례안’은 10일 대구시의회 건설교통위원회 심의를 앞두고 있다. 오는 17일 본회의에서 의결되면 수도요금은 인상된다.
개정조례안에 따르면 가정용 수도 요금은 현행 1㎥당 550원에서 2022년 600원, 2023년 650원, 2024년 이후 710원으로 인상될 계획이다. 일반용은 같은 기간 1천 120원, 1천 230원, 1천 340원으로 인상된다.
