【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자=대구시는 6일 홍준표 대구시장, TC 유지연 회장, 사야문화재단·사야장학재단 유재성 이사장, 김정길 대구문화예술진흥원장이 참석한 가운데 기부협약식을 가졌다고 6일 밝혔다.
이날 TC는 연 5억원을 4년간, 총 20억원을 기부약정하는 내용의 협약을 체결했다.
창업 76주년을 맞은 TC는 국내 철강산업의 굵직한 획을 그은 업계 선두주자로 2012년 사야문화재단을 설립해 다양한 문화예술사업을 후원해 왔으며, 유재성 전(前) 회장의 탁월한 예술가적 식견과 안목을 바탕으로 기업의 창조경영을 견인해 온 기업이다.
대구오페라하우스 개관 초기부터 공연환경 개선을 위한 무대막 기증을 시작으로 오페라축제에 꾸준히 기부해 왔으며, 작년부터 창작오페라 발전을 위한 ‘오페라 카메라타’ 사업을 지원해 오고 있다.
TC는 기부금으로 내년부터 오페라, 뮤지컬, 국악 분야의 대상제정 및 시상식 등을 후원한다. 먼저 20주년을 맞는 대구국제오페라축제는 세계적으로 권위 있는 ‘오페라대상’ 신설 및 시상식·갈라콘서트 개최를 통해 세계적인 아티스트의 축제참가 및 실력 있는 신인발굴로 국제위상을 제고할 계획이다.
제17회를 맞는 ‘대구국제뮤지컬페스티벌 어워즈’는 TC 기부금을 통해 시상금을 확대해 영예성을 높이고, 국악분야는 ‘대구 사야국악상’ 제정으로 명망 있는 예술인을 발굴함과 동시에 품격 높은 축하공연으로 국악부흥과 발전에 주력할 예정이다.
홍준표 대구시장은 “문화예술에 대한 각별한 사랑으로 지역 대표 공연문화의 진흥․발전에 힘써 주신 데 대해 TC관계자에게 감사드린다”며, “공연문화분야 대상 후원으로 상의 권위가 높아짐과 아울러, 유네스코 음악창의도시 대구의 국제위상도 강화될 것으로 기대된다”고 밝혔다.
