【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 영진전문대학교(총장 최재영) 반려동물과가 전국 핸들링 콘테스트에서 대상을 차지하며 우수한 실력을 입증했다.

29일 대학에 따르면 올해로 학과 개설 2년 차를 맞은 이 대학교 반려동물과는 최근 서울에서 KKC한국애견협회가 개최한 ‘제125회 KKC 핸들러 자격검정 및 콘테스트’에서 이호준 학생(2년)이 일반부 대상을 수상했다.

핸들링 콘테스트는 핸들러와 견이 교감하며 일체감과 협동심을 발휘해 견의 아름다움을 표현하는 대회다. 

일반부 ‘펨브로크웰시코르기’로 출전해 대상을 수상한 이호준 학생(2년)은 “1학년 때부터 방과 후 꾸준히 연습한 것이 이제야 결실을 맺은 것 같아 기쁘다. 수상에 만족하지 않고 꾸준히 준비하고 도전해 다양한 분야의 대회에서 좋은 성과를 낼 수 있도록 하고 핸들러로 더욱 성장하도록 하겠다.”고 했다.

‘비글’로 학생부에 도전한 손혁준 학생(2년)은 “대회 출진은 처음이라 아쉬운 부분이 많았다. 매일 아침, 저녁으로 출전할 강아지와 호흡을 맞추며 연습한 시간들이 소중한 경험이 됐다. 앞으로 꾸준히 준비하고 노력해 다음 대회에서 좋은 성과를 얻도록 실력을 키워나가겠다.”고 전했다.

이민영 지도교수는 “학생들이 대회 준비를 위해 늦은 밤, 주말까지 연습에 몰두하는 열정적인 모습이 이번에 빛을 보게 됐다. 이번 수상이 동기부여가 돼 전공 능력을 더욱 키우고 전문 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 교육과 지도에 최선을 다하겠다.”고 말했다.

This year marks the 2nd year since the opening of the department, and at the Department of Pet Animal Studies, Hojun Lee (2nd year) won the grand prize in the general division at the ‘125th KKC Handler Qualification Test and Contest’ held by the KKC Korea Dog Association in Seoul.

The handling contest is a competition in which the handler and the dog communicate and express the beauty of the dog by demonstrating a sense of unity and cooperation.

Lee Ho-joon (2nd year), who competed in the General Division ‘Pembroke Welsh Corgi’ and won the grand prize, said, “I am happy that my practice after school since the first year has finally come to fruition. I will not be satisfied with winning the award, but will continue to prepare and challenge myself so that I can achieve good results in various fields of competition and grow further as a handler.”

Sohn Hyeok-jun (2nd year), who challenged the student division with “Beagle,” said, “It was my first time participating in a competition, so there were many things I was disappointed with. The time I practiced with the puppies that will compete every morning and evening became a valuable experience. I will continue to prepare and work hard to improve my skills so that I can achieve good results in the next competition.”

Advisor Lee Min-young said, “The passionate image of the students practicing late at night and on weekends to prepare for the competition has come to light this time. I will do my best in education and guidance so that this award will motivate me to further develop my major skills and grow into a professional talent.”
