경상북도는 21일 경북․구미 방산혁신클러스터 사업단 3층 대회의실에서 ‘방산혁신클러스터 지역협의회’위원을 위촉하고. 2023년 사업 추진상황과 2024년 사업 추진계획을 심의, 의결했다고 밝혔다.

지난 6월 사업단 개소에 이어 7월 지역협의회 구성을 마친 방산혁신클러스터 사업단은 이번 2차 지역협의회 회의를 통해 2차 년도 사업계획을 심의 의결함으로 인해서 본격적으로 사업을 추진할 수 있게 됐다. 실제, 방산혁신클러스터 세부 사업별로 현재 공모를 통해 추진기관 선정 및 협약을 완료한 상태로 기술개발과 기업지원 등이 본격 추진될 예정이다.

이달희 경북도 경제부지사는 “방산혁신클러스터 사업으로 지역 중소기업이 중견기업으로 성장하는 기회가 되어주길 바라며, 경북의 힘으로 대한민국 방위산업을 한 단계 더 도약 시키겠다”라고 말했다.

김일동 방위사업청 방위산업진흥국장은“경북은 방위산업의 핵심부품기지로서 중요한 역할을 해왔으며, 이번 방산혁신클러스터로 방산 기술을 고도화하여 미래 무기체계에서도 선도적 역할을 해주길 바란다”라고 말했다.

한편, 이날 지역협의회 회의 후 방위사업청 주관으로 3개 방산혁신클러스터(경북·구미, 경남·창원, 대전) 간의 상생협력과 시너지 창출을 위한 논의도 함께 진행됐다.

Kim Il-dong, director of the Defense Industry Promotion Bureau of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, said, “Gyeongbuk has played an important role as a core parts base for the defense industry, and we hope that this defense industry innovation cluster will advance defense technology and play a leading role in future weapon systems.”

Meanwhile, after the regional council meeting on this day, discussions were also held on win-win cooperation and synergy creation between the three defense industry innovation clusters (Gyeongbuk/Gumi, Gyeongnam/Changwon, and Daejeon) hosted by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
