23일 포스코그룹에 따르면 지난 21일 장인화 회장은 세종시 포스코퓨처엠 에너지소재연구소 및 천연흑연 음극재 공장을 방문해 이차전지소재 기술개발 현황과 생산/판매 등 경영현안을 점검하고 임직원 간담회도 가졌다.

이날 장 회장은 최근 글로벌 전기차 수요침체(캐즘)로 인한 경기 하락과 이에 따른 그룹 이차전지소재사업의 방향성에 대해 “글로벌 친환경차 시장에서 전기차는 꼭 가야하는 방향으로 그룹 차원에서 투자 축소는 없을 것”이라며 “특히 이차전지소재분야는 글로벌 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있는 실력을 갖추도록 매진해야 할 것” 이라고 당부했다.

또한 임직원들과 간담회에서는 글로벌 이차전지시장 성장완화에 따른 관련 사업회사의 미래 성장성에 대한 물음에 “시장은 점차 개선될 것이며, 초격차 기술력 확보를 위해 노력하면 미래가치는 높아질 것”이며, “차세대 소재 개발과 가격/품질 경쟁우위 확보로 시장 변화에 기민한 대응이 관건으로 원료부터 소재까지 이차전지소재 풀밸류체인 구축의 완성이 글로벌 시장의 경쟁에서 포스코그룹의 차별화된 경쟁력이 될 것”이라고 강조했다.
