【브레이크뉴스 영천】이성현 기자=영천시의회(의장 김선태)는 6월 10일부터 17일까지 8일간의 일정으로 제246회 제1차 정례회를 개회하고 본격적인 의정 활동에 돌입했다.

이날 열린 제1차 본회의에서는 회기 결정의 건을 비롯해 회기 운영에 필요한 7건의 안건을 심의·의결했다. 특히, 2024회계연도 결산 및 예비비 지출을 심사하기 위한 예산결산특별위원회 위원 선임의 건이 의결됐으며, 하기태 의원이 위원장으로 선임되어 결산 심사에 대한 중책을 맡게 됐다.

또한, 본회의에서는 흡연에 따른 각종 피해 예방과 담배 제조사의 사회적 책임 이행을 촉구하는 담배 제조물의 결함 인정 및 사회적 책임 촉구 결의안을 채택했다. 결의안은 김종욱 부의장이 대표로 낭독했으며, 결의문을 통해 담배 제조사의 제조물 결함에 대한 법적·도덕적 책임을 강조하고, 시민의 건강 보호를 위한 사회적 책무를 촉구했다.

김선태 의장은 이날 회의를 마무리하며 “우리 시의 '금연 환경조성 및 간접흡연 피해방지 조례'는 시민이 유해한 환경으로부터 보호받을 권리를 보장하고 있다”며, “영천시의회도 앞으로 시민 건강을 지키기 위한 정책 마련에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

이번 정례회에서는 결산 심사는 물론 각종 조례안과 현안에 대한 논의가 이어질 예정이며, 오는 17일 제2차 본회의를 통해 최종 안건들을 의결할 계획이다.

Yeongcheon City Council (Chairman Kim Seon-tae) opened the 246th 1st regular session for 8 days from June 10 to 17 and began full-fledged legislative activities.

Chairman Kim Seon-tae concluded the meeting that day, saying, “Our city’s ‘Ordinance on Promoting a Smoke-Free Environment and Preventing Secondhand Smoke Damage’ guarantees citizens’ right to be protected from harmful environments,” and “Yeongcheon City Council will also do its best to establish policies to protect citizens’ health in the future.”
