경주시의회 이락우 APEC 정상회의 추진지원 특별위원회 위원장 및 정희택 부위원장, 김항규·정성룡 위원과 APEC 시민서포터즈는 라원(식물원)예정지부터 도보 종주 도착지인 경주 화백컨벤션센터(APEC 정상회의장)에 이르는 마지막 구간까지 이범식 씨와 동행했다.

이들은 이범식 씨의 열정적인 도전에 깊은 격려와 감사의 뜻을 전하며, 2025 APEC 정상회의의 성공적인 개최를 위한 시민적 공감대 형성과 참여 확산에 함께했다.

경주시의회는 앞으로도 ‘찾아가는 간담회’, ‘APEC 홍보 FESTA’ 등을 통해 시민과 함께하는 다채로운 APEC 홍보 활동을 전개하고, 성공 개최를 위한 의정 역량을 총결집해 나갈 계획이다.

Gyeongju City Council members and citizens joined the meaningful last leg of ‘Left Foot Doctor’ Lee Beom-sik (60 years old) who set out on a 400km walking journey from Gwangju to Daegu and then to Gyeongju to pray for the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit.

Gyeongju City Council APEC Summit Promotion Support Special Committee Chairman Lee Rak-woo, Vice Chairman Jeong Hee-taek, Committee Members Kim Hang-gyu and Jeong Seong-ryong, and APEC Citizen Supporters accompanied Lee Beom-sik from the planned site of Rawon (Botanical Garden) to the final leg of the walking journey, the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center (APEC Summit Hall).

They expressed deep encouragement and gratitude for Lee Beom-sik’s passionate challenge, and worked together to build civic consensus and expand participation for the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit.

Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop said, “Mr. Lee Beom-sik’s walk is not just a simple walk, but the footsteps of all citizens who wish for the successful hosting of APEC,” and added, “I hope that today’s walk will be a symbolic step toward the successful hosting of APEC, created together with citizens, and a message of hope that goes beyond Korea and reaches the world.”

Mr. Lee Beom-sik said, “This journey, which began with the wish for harmony between Yeongnam and Honam and the success of APEC, was able to end thanks to the support and encouragement of many people,” and added, “I hope that this walk will lead to a great wave of inter-regional solidarity and citizen participation, and become an opportunity to inform the world of Korea’s hope and potential through APEC.”

Gyeongju City Council plans to continue to carry out diverse APEC promotional activities with citizens through ‘Visiting Discussions’ and ‘APEC Promotion FESTA’, and to fully mobilize its legislative capabilities for the successful hosting.
