행사는 경주시민은 물론 국내외 관광객이 참여할 수 있는 시민참여형 대외 행사로, 황리단길 일대에서 진행됐다. ▲APEC·의회 전시관, ▲O/X룰렛 퀴즈, ▲전통 갓 만들기, ▲포토존, ▲전통 윷놀이 체험 등 다채로운 부스가 운영돼 참가자들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

행사 관계자는 “다양한 체험 부스를 통해 시민과 관광객들이 경주시의회에 대해 올바르게 이해하고, 2025 APEC 정상회의에 대한 인식을 높일 수 있는 계기를 만들고자 했다”고 말했다.

이동협 의장은 “지난해 12월 의회에서 개최한 ‘APEC 성공개최 세미나’에서 시민들이 시민참여형 행사 필요성을 언급한 데 대한 응답으로 이번 행사를 준비했다”며 “이번 기회를 통해 경주시의회와 APEC에 대한 관심과 이해가 높아지길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

이락우 2025 APEC 정상회의 추진지원 특별위원장은 “이번 행사는 경주시민과 관광객 모두에게 큰 호응을 얻은 뜻깊은 자리였다”며 “앞으로도 APEC과 경주시의회에 대한 관심과 성원을 부탁드린다”고 전했다.

 Gyeongju City Council Hosts Citizen-Participatory "APEC Playground: Play with the Council" on Hwangridan-gil

The Gyeongju City Council (Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop) announced that it held "APEC Playground: Play with the Council," a festival-style event for citizens and tourists, in front of the Hwangnam-dong Community Center on August 23rd. The event aimed to highlight the role of local councils in the era of decentralization and foster a positive atmosphere for the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit.

The event, an open-ended public event open to both Gyeongju citizens and domestic and international tourists, took place along Hwangridan-gil. Event organizers stated, "Through various experiential booths, we hoped to provide an opportunity for citizens and tourists to gain a proper understanding of the Gyeongju City Council and raise awareness of the 2025 APEC Summit."

Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop stated, "We organized this event in response to citizens' comments at the 'APEC Success Seminar' held by the council last December, where they expressed the need for a citizen-participatory event.
