【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=구미시는 행정안전부가 주관한 ‘2026년 마을기업 육성사업’ 공모에서 신규 마을기업 1곳과 재지정 마을기업 1곳이 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

이번 공모에서 신규 마을기업으로 선정된 각산이음스테이협동조합에는 5천만 원, 재지정 마을기업으로 선정된 해평중심지영농조합법인에는 3천만 원의 사업비가 지원된다.

마을기업은 지역주민이 주도적으로 지역 자원을 활용해 수익사업을 운영하고, 이를 통해 발생한 수익을 지역사회에 환원하는 공동체 기반 기업이다. 인구 감소와 지역 소멸 위기가 심화되는 상황에서 지역 일자리 창출과 청년·귀촌 인구 유입, 지역 자원 활용 고도화, 공동체 회복 등 다양한 효과를 창출하는 정책 수단으로 평가받고 있다.

이번 선정은 주민 주도의 공동체 사업 모델이 대외적으로 경쟁력을 인정받았다는 점에서 의미가 있으며, 지역 자원과 주민 역량을 결합한 구미형 마을기업 모델 확산의 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

신규 마을기업으로 선정된 각산이음스테이협동조합은 지역 빈집과 상권을 연계한 체류형 관광·문화체험 사업을 추진하는 주민 주도형 협동조합이다. 북카페와 공방을 연계한 체험 프로그램 운영, 체류형 로컬투어 상품 개발, 마을 스테이(숙박) 운영, 주민 참여형 문화행사 기획 등을 통해 지역 체류 시간을 늘리고 마을경제 활성화를 도모할 계획이다. 특히 주민이 기획과 운영에 직접 참여하는 구조를 통해 수익의 지역 환원 체계를 구축하고 지속 가능한 일자리 창출 기반을 마련할 방침이다.

재지정 마을기업으로 선정된 해평중심지영농조합법인은 지역 주민이 설립한 공동체 기반 영농조합으로 농산물 생산과 가공, 유통을 연계한 사업을 추진해 왔다. 해평정다운센터(목욕탕·헬스장) 운영과 지역 농산물 직거래 판매, 농산물 가공품 포장·판매, 취약계층 일자리 제공 등 다양한 사업을 통해 공동체 수익 창출과 사회적 가치 실현을 이어가고 있다.

이번 재지정은 사업의 지속가능성과 지역 환원 효과를 종합적으로 인정받은 결과로, 앞으로 해평 쌀과 잡곡 브랜드화 및 온라인 판로 확대를 통해 사업 경쟁력을 강화할 계획이다.

박영희 구미시 일자리경제과장은 “이번 마을기업 공모 선정은 지역 주민의 적극적인 참여와 협력이 만들어낸 성과”라며 “마을기업이 자립·자생력을 갖춘 지역경제의 핵심 주체로 성장할 수 있도록 행정적·재정적 지원을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 말했다.

구미시는 그동안 주민 역량 강화 교육과 전문가 컨설팅, 네트워크 구축 지원 등 체계적인 마을기업 육성 정책을 추진해 왔으며 이번 공모 선정은 그동안의 정책적 노력이 가시적인 성과로 이어진 사례로 평가된다.

한편 2024년 우수 마을기업으로 선정된 구미로컬푸드협동조합은 봉곡동에 상설 직매장 ‘농부마음’을 운영하고 고아읍 일원에서 ‘싱싱장터’를 개최해 지역 농가의 안정적인 판로 확대에 기여하고 있다. 또한 고향사랑기부제 답례품 공급과 농산물 기부 등 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 통해 기업성과 공공성을 동시에 인정받고 있으며 향후 ‘모두애(愛) 마을기업’ 공모에도 도전할 계획이다.
