27일 경북도청 회의실에서 열린 '양자·AI 기술 기반 차세대 무인이동체 고도화를 위한 업무협약(MOU)' 체결식에는 양금희 경북도 경제부지사, 정성현 구미부시장을 비롯해 SDT(주) 윤지원 대표, ㈜모빌린트 신동주 대표, 경운대학교 최호성 부총장, 구미전자정보기술원 문추연 원장이 참석했다.

이번 협약은 양자보안기술(QRNG)과 AI 반도체(NPU)를 무인이동체에 접목해 보안성과 지능성을 동시에 고도화하고, 이를 통해 지역 특화산업의 경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 협력체계 구축을 목표로 한다.

최근 차세대 무인이동체는 공공안전, 산업시설 점검, 국방·치안 등으로 활용 범위가 확대되고 있다. 그러나 데이터 전송 보안과 실시간 AI 처리 기술은 여전히 핵심 과제로 꼽힌다. 기존 PRNG(의사난수생성기) 기반 보안체계의 한계를 보완할 QRNG(양자난수생성기) 기술이 차세대 대안으로 주목받는 배경이다.

협약 참여 기관들은 ▲양자보안(QRNG) 및 AI(NPU) 기반 무인이동체 공동 연구개발(R&D) ▲양자·AI 등 첨단과학기술 분야 전문인력 양성 ▲지역 특화산업 연계 및 양자산업 생태계 조성 등을 중점 협력 과제로 추진한다.

이번 협력은 단순 기술 교류를 넘어 공동 R&D–실증–사업화–인력양성으로 이어지는 전주기 협력체계를 구축한다는 점에서 의미가 크다. 양자·AI 기반 기술을 구미 주력 산업과 단계적으로 연계해 산업 구조 고도화를 도모할 계획이다.

정성현 구미부시장은 “이번 MOU는 경북도와 구미시, 양자·AI 선도기업, 대학·연구기관이 함께 미래 전략산업 육성을 위한 협력체계를 구축하는 출발점”이라며 “구미 주력산업에 양자·AI 기술을 접목해 새로운 성장동력을 확보할 수 있도록 행정·정책적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

양금희 경북도 경제부지사는 “양자와 AI는 미래 산업 지형을 바꿀 핵심 게임체인저”라며 “이번 협약을 계기로 경북이 ‘K-양자 산업’의 중심지로 도약하고, 차세대 무인이동체 산업의 글로벌 허브로 성장할 수 있도록 초격차 기술 확보에 총력을 기울이겠다”고 강조했다.

The signing ceremony for the "MOU for Advancing Next-Generation Unmanned Vehicles Based on Quantum and AI Technology" was held in the conference room of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office on the 27th. Participants included Yang Geum-hee, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongbuk Province, Jeong Seong-hyeon, Deputy Mayor of Gumi City, Yoon Ji-won, CEO of SDT Co., Ltd., Shin Dong-joo, CEO of Mobilint Co., Ltd., Choi Ho-seong, Vice President of Kyungwoon University, and Moon Chu-yeon, President of the Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute.

This agreement aims to establish a cooperative system to enhance both security and intelligence by incorporating quantum security technology (QRNG) and AI semiconductors (NPU) into unmanned vehicles, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of specialized local industries.

Next-generation unmanned vehicles (UAVs) are expanding their application scope to include public safety, industrial facility inspection, national defense, and public security. However, data transmission security and real-time AI processing remain key challenges. This is why QRNG (Quantum Random Number Generator) technology, which aims to complement the limitations of existing PRNG (Pseudo Random Number Generator)-based security systems, is attracting attention as a next-generation alternative.

The participating organizations will pursue key collaborative projects, including: ▲Joint R&D of unmanned vehicles based on quantum security (QRNG) and AI (NPU); ▲Cultivating experts in advanced science and technology fields such as quantum and AI; ▲Linking regional specialized industries and fostering a quantum industry ecosystem.

This collaboration is significant in that it goes beyond simple technological exchange and establishes a full-cycle collaborative system encompassing joint R&D, demonstration, commercialization, and human resource development. The plan is to gradually integrate quantum and AI-based technologies with key Western industries to advance the industrial structure.

Gumi Deputy Mayor Jeong Seong-hyeon stated, "This MOU is the starting point for establishing a cooperative system between Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Gumi City, leading quantum and AI companies, universities, and research institutes to foster future strategic industries." He added, "We will spare no administrative and policy support to secure new growth engines by incorporating quantum and AI technologies into Gumi's key industries."

Gyeongsangbuk-do Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geum-hee emphasized, "Quantum and AI are key game changers that will transform the future industrial landscape. With this agreement as a momentum, we will dedicate all our efforts to securing cutting-edge technologies so that Gyeongsangbuk-do can leap forward as a hub for the 'K-quantum industry' and grow into a global hub for the next-generation unmanned vehicle industry."
