구미시는 3일 시청 대회의실에서 김장호 시장을 비롯해 구자근, 강명구, 시의회 의장 및 도·시의원, 한국화학융합시험연구원 원장 등이 참석한 가운데 한국화학융합시험연구원과 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.

이번 협약은 한국화학융합시험연구원 대구경북본부를 구미에 설립하고, 지역 산업 육성을 위한 협력체계를 구축하기 위해 추진됐다. 해당 본부는 오는 7월 구미1산업단지(수출대로 137)에 들어설 예정이며, 약 50여 명이 근무하게 된다.

최근 산업 전반에서 기술 고도화와 융복합이 빠르게 진행되면서 제품 안전성과 성능을 검증하기 위한 시험·인증 수요가 증가하는 가운데, 구미시는 이번 본부 설립을 통해 관련 인프라를 지역에 내재화할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다. 이에 따라 기업들이 외부 기관에 의존하지 않고 보다 신속하게 인증 절차를 진행할 수 있어 제품 개발부터 시장 진출까지 소요 시간이 단축될 전망이다.

신설되는 대구경북본부는 금속소재부품, 재사용 배터리 등 다양한 산업 분야에서 시험 접수부터 성적서 발급, 인증까지 원스톱 서비스를 제공한다. 아울러 정부 연구개발(R&D) 과제 수행과 연구기반 활용사업을 통해 중소기업 기술 지원도 병행할 계획이다.

김장호 시장은 “한국화학융합시험연구원 대구경북본부 설립은 지역 기업의 기술 개발과 성장 기반을 강화하는 중요한 전환점”이라며 “기업들이 체감할 수 있는 지원이 이뤄지도록 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

Gumi City has set out to strengthen the competitiveness of local industries by expanding testing and certification infrastructure.

On the 3rd, Gumi City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR) at the City Hall conference room. The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Kim Jang-ho, City Council Chairpersons Koo Ja-geun and Kang Myeong-gu, provincial and city council members, and the President of the Korea Testing & Research Institute.

This agreement was pursued to establish the KTR Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters in Gumi and to build a cooperative system for fostering local industries. The headquarters is scheduled to open in Gumi Industrial Complex 1 (137, Supul-daero) this coming July, and approximately 50 people will be employed there. With the rapid advancement of technology and convergence across industries in recent years, the demand for testing and certification to verify product safety and performance is increasing. Gumi City expects that the establishment of this headquarters will allow it to internalize relevant infrastructure within the region. Consequently, companies will be able to proceed with certification procedures more quickly without relying on external agencies, which is expected to shorten the time required from product development to market entry.

The newly established Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters will provide one-stop services—from test application to report issuance and certification—in various industrial sectors, including metal materials and components and recycled batteries. In addition, it plans to provide technical support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the execution of government R&D projects and initiatives utilizing research infrastructure.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, "The establishment of the Korea Testing & Research Institute's Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters marks a significant turning point in strengthening the foundation for technological development and growth for local companies," adding, "We will spare no administrative support to ensure that companies receive tangible assistance."
