수성구는 당초 시장 뿐 아니라 주변 소상공인 점포 200여 개를 고려해 187면을 신청하였으나 사업 규모가 크게 축소돼 주변 상권 활성화와 주차장 조성부지의 효율적 활용을 위해 주차장 규모를 확대해 조성할 계획이다.

사업 예정 부지인 에덴어린이공원 지하 1층 전체를 조성할 경우, 187면의 주차면 조성이 가능하며 총 사업비는 공원재조성을 포함해 189억원으로 예상된다.

수성구청 관계자는 "공영주차장이 조성되면 지산목련시장을 포함한 주변 상가의 이용자가 늘어나고 인근 상가·주택의 주차난 해소가 필요해진다"며 "지하주차장은 한 번 조성되면 다시 증설하기 어려워 처음부터 100면 이상의 주차장을 조성해야한다"고 전했다.
