달서구는 대구 최초 유니세프 아동친화도시로 선정됨에 발맞춰 아이들의 건강한 성장을 위한 아동친화적 환경조성을 위해 여러 정책을 펼쳐 나가고 있다. 

특히 지난해 체계적인 아동정책 추진을 위해 중장기계획인 아동친화도시 4개년(2021~2024년) 추진 전략사업 계획을 수립하여 적극 추진 중이며, 하반기에는 건전하고 창의적인 놀이문화를 통한 아동의 건강한 성장과 여가활동을 지원하는 아동전용시설 달서아이꿈센터가 개관 예정이다.

이태훈 달서구청장은 “아이들의 웃음소리가 커져가는 희망 달서를 만들기 위한 구민들의 합심된 열정과 노력의 결과로 지난해 대구 최초 유니세프 아동친화도시 인증을 받게 되었다.”며, “앞으로도 아동친화도시 환경 조성을 위한 지속적인 아동친화정책 발굴 및 사업 추진으로 아동이 건강하고 행복한, 꿈을 키울 수 있는 달서구가 되도록 최선을 다하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
