이를 위해 경북농관원 특별사법경찰 160명과 소비자단체 회원 등으로 구성된 정예 명예감시원 260명 등 총 420여명을 동원해 제수·선물용품 통신판매업체, 농식품 제조·가공업체, 도·소매상 등을 점검할 계획이다.

2일 경북농관원에 따르면 이번 단속은 사전 정보를 취득한 후 원산지 위반 이력이 있거나 부정유통 개연성이 높은 업체 위주로 선정하여 1회 방문으로 적발하는 원포인트 단속방법으로 점검한다.

먼저 2일부터 11일까지는 단속을 위한 사전 정보 수집과 통신판매 중 선물·제수용 농식품, 건강기능식품 등 제조업체 위주로 점검하고, 설이 임박하여 수요가 증가하는 12일부터 20일까지는 소비자가 많이 찾는 백화점·대형마트·전통시장 등 농축산물 취급업체 등을 위주로 집중 점검한다.

이번 단속에서 적발되는 업체에 대해서는 농수산물의 원산지 표시 등에 관한 법률에 따라 형사입건 및 과태료 처분 등 엄정 조치된다.

원산지를 ‘거짓 표시’한 업체는 형사입건 후 검찰 기소 등 절차를 거쳐 ‘7년 이하의 징역 또는 1억원 이하의 벌금’에 처하게 되며, ‘원산지 미표시’ 업체에 대해서는 1,000만원 이하의 과태료가 부과된다.
