이날 이철우 도지사는 김영환 충북도지사와의 환담 자리에서 경북이 걸어가고 있는 지방시대 대전환의 여정에 충북도가 보내주고 있는 지지와 응원에 감사 인사를 전했다.

이에 김영환 도지사는 자신의 부모님 고향이 경북 상주라며, 지금도 충북과 경북은 매년 10월 10일 ‘삼도봉 만남의 날’이 개최될 정도로 오랜 교류를 이어오고 있어 이제 대한민국의 신발전축으로 중부내륙시대를 만들어 함께 성장하자고 화답했다.

이후 이철우 도지사는 ‘지방시대 대전환 – 대한민국, 판을 바꿔라’라는 주제로 충북도청 직원들을 대상으로 특강을 가졌다.

특강에서 경북이 추진하고 있는 ‘지방시대 대전환 프로젝트’소개를 통해 “건국 이래 계속되어온 수도권 독과점 시대를 타파하고 500만명규모 광역경제 공동권 구축, 지역별 혁신생태계 조성, 지방정부 권한이양으로 교육혁명, 일자리혁명, 지방정주시대혁명을 통해 경북도가 주도해서 대한민국의 판을 바꾸겠다”고 역설했다.

또한, “이제는 지방이 대한민국을 먹여 살려야 한다.‘축의 대전환’이 이루어지고 있다”며, “경북과 충북은 이제 단순한 교류와 상생을 넘어 대한민국 남부권 균형발전을 위한 새로운‘축의 전환'의 중심 역할을 해야 한다”고 강조했다.

특강에 참석한 충북도청 직원들은 경북이 소개한 대한민국의 판을 바꾸는 지방시대 대전환 프로젝트가 상당히 신선하다며 특히, K-로컬 전성시대 7대 프로젝트를 통한 지방정부시대 개막에 큰 관심을 보였다.

아울러 농업대전환, 그린뉴딜과 AI, 메타버스 등 경북이 주도하고 있는 각종 4차 산업 사업들이 충북도와 시너지효과를 통해 성공하기를 바란다고 전했다.

한편, 경북도와 충북도는 중부권 정책 공조를 통한 한반도 허리경제권 구축을 위해 7개 광역시도와 함께 2016년부터 중부권정책협의회를 구성해 중부권 동서내륙철도, 동서3축·5축·6축 고속도로 건설, 중부고속도로 확장 및 조기 건설 등의 14개 SOC 확충사업과 신라·중원·백제문화권 교류, 중부권 관광벨트 구축, 국회분원 세종시 설치 등의 핵심사업을 공동으로 추진하고 있다.
