【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=계명대학교(총장 신일희)는 교육부가 추진하는 ‘2024년 국제협력선도대학육성지원사업’에 최종 선정되었다고 29일 밝혔다.

국제협력선도대학육성지원사업은 교육부의 대표적인 고등교육 공적개발원조(ODA) 사업으로 정부와 국내 대학이 공동으로 대학의 자원 및 학문적, 교육적 역량을 활용하여 수원국의 고등교육의 발전을 지원하기위해 추진한다.

계명대학교는 2021년과 2022년에 교육부의 글로벌교육 지원사업과 한국국제교류재단(KF)의 공공외교 역량강화대학 지원사업, 경상북도의 새바람 행복나눔 국제협력사업 등 각종 공적개발원조사업을 수행해 왔다. 

이와 같은 국제개발협력사업의 경험과 국제협력선도대학육성지원사업 수행 계획 타당성 등을 인정받아 사업에 선정된 계명대는 올해 4월부터 7년간 25억 원을 지원받아 사업을 수행한다.

본 사업은 수원국인 키르기스스탄 정부에서 경제 발전을 위해 전략적으로 추진하고 있는 정보통신기술(ICT)의 혁신과 고등 교육을 통한 전문인력 양성 사업의 중점 사업으로 추진된다. 

계명대학교는 키르기스스탄 최고의 국립대학인 키르기스국립대학교(Kyrgyz National University)와 협력하여 정보혁신기술학부에 인공지능응용학부를 신설하고, 유관 학과의 교육과정을 개선할 예정이다.

사업 단장인 박기현 교수(컴퓨터공학과)는 “국제협력선도대학육성지원사업의 최종 선정은 그동안 꾸준히 우리 대학에서 자체적으로 추진해 온 국제협력의 결과 중 하나이며, 본 사업을 계기로 우리 대학이 명실공히 대표적인 국제협력 선도대학으로 거듭날 것”이라고 말했다.

김선정 국제부총장은 “국제협력선도대학육성지원사업의 성공적인 수행과 목표 달성을 위해 키르기스국립대학교와의 협력을 적극적으로 지원하여 국제화 선도대학으로서의 역할을 충실히 하겠다”라고 말했다.
