10일 구미시에 따르면 수도권 외 지자체 중 유일하게 반도체 핵심 소재·부품 첨단전략산업 특화단지로 지정됐으며, 유무인 복합체계 방산혁신 클러스터 사업에도 선정되며 두 개의 성장동력을 확보했다.

이러한 성과를 바탕으로 ▲첨단방위산업용 시스템반도체 부품 실증기반 구축(2024~2028, 167억) ▲반도체 소재·부품 시험평가센터 구축(2024~2028, 300억) 등 국책사업을 유치했다.

첨단방위산업 진흥센터(2023~2025, 140억)는 올해 착공을 앞두고 있으며, 무인수상정 테스트베드(2024, 6억)는 연내 완공을 목표로 추진 중이다.

특히, 부지매입비 150억 원을 투입해 ‘구미 첨단반도체 연구단지(Gumi Semicon Park)’ 조성도 본격 추진하며, 첨단산업의 지속 성장을 위한 다각적인 노력을 기울이고 있다.

구미시는 첨단산업의 체계적 관리와 지속 가능한 산업도시로의 혁신을 위해 지난해 ‘구미시 신산업 육성전략’을 수립했다.

지역 산업의 초격차 확보와 미래 도전적 융합산업의 성장동력 확충을 위해 8대 신산업(반도체, 이차전지, 방산, 로봇, 가상융합, 디지털헬스케어, 첨단모빌리티, 에너지)의 현재 상황을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 총 150개 사업, 3조 1,733억 원 규모의 신규 및 지속사업을 발굴했다.

특히 중장기 로드맵을 통해 후속 사업 추진 방향과 세부 실행계획을 마련하고, 산업별로 제조혁신을 최우선 과제로 삼아 지속적인 산업 고도화를 추진할 계획이다. 시는 매 분기 전문가 자문을 거쳐 첨단산업 발전 로드맵을 지속적으로 보완해 나갈 계획이다.

구미시는 산업정책 분야에서도 변화를 추진하고 있다.

반도체·방산·이차전지·로봇 등 청년층이 선호하는 첨단산업을 육성하고, 메타버스·가상융합·디지털휴먼, 차세대디스플레이 등 여성 인력의 강점을 살릴 수 있는 콘텐츠 연계 산업을 발굴했다.

아울러, 18개 산학협력사업(총 1,991억)을 추진하며, 지역 내 기업과 대학의 연계를 강화하고 고급인재 유입을 위한 지원을 확대하고 있다.

2025년부터는 AI·디지털 기술을 산업 전반에 접목하는 AX(인공지능 전환), DX(디지털 전환) 기반 제조혁신 사업을 추진한다.

또한, 노후화된 구미 국가산업단지의 경쟁력 강화를 위해 도시재생 혁신지구 사업을 상반기 실시설계를 마친 후 하반기 착공할 예정이다.

아울러, 지역 내 혁신기관을 확충·강화하고 중소·중견기업 중심의 산학협력형 우수 인재 양성사업을 지속적으로 발굴해 고급 인력이 구미에 정착할 수 있는 기반을 조성할 방침이다.

김장호 구미시장은 “구미가 대한민국을 대표하는 산업도시로 자리 잡은 것은 현재에 안주하지 않고 끊임없이 혁신을 추진했기 때문”이라며 “작년 7월 첨단산업국을 신설한 것도 그 연장선”이라고 강조했다. 이어 “첨단산업 기반을 더욱 견고히 다지고, 청년과 우수 인재가 찾는 도시로 거듭나기 위해 지속적인 산업 혁신을 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.

In order to secure a super gap in regional industries and expand the growth potential of future challenging convergence industries, the current status of eight new industries (semiconductors, secondary batteries, defense, robots, virtual convergence, digital healthcare, advanced mobility, and energy) was analyzed, and based on this, a total of 150 new and ongoing projects worth 3.1733 trillion won were discovered.
