【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=구미시가 시민과 관광객을 위한 도심 속 자연 친화적 여가 공간 확충에 나섰다. 구미시는 ‘구미 낙동강 제2캠핑장’ 조성 사업을 마무리하고 오는 24일 정식 개장한다고 밝혔다.
낙동강 제2캠핑장 조성은 기존 낙동강 캠핑장의 높은 이용 수요에 대응하고 보다 쾌적한 캠핑 환경을 제공하기 위해 추진됐다. 시는 지난해 8월 착공해 총사업비 34억 원을 투입, 낙동강 체육공원 일원에 오토캠핑 사이트 50면을 새롭게 조성했다.
제2캠핑장은 넉넉한 공간 설계를 강점으로 내세웠다. 각 사이트를 10×10m 규모로 조성해 대형 텐트와 카라반 이용객도 여유롭게 캠핑을 즐길 수 있도록 했다. 또한 샤워실 2개소, 화장실 2개소, 세척실 1개소 등 최신 편의시설을 갖춰 이용 편의성을 높였다. 가족 단위 방문객을 위해 어린이 놀이기구와 9홀 규모의 미니 골프장도 함께 마련됐다.
현재 운영 중인 구미 낙동강 캠핑장은 카라반 15면과 오토캠핑 75면 등 총 196개소 규모로, 2025년 한 해에만 약 18만 명이 방문할 정도로 높은 인기를 끌고 있다. 구미시는 제2캠핑장 개장을 통해 예약난을 완화하고 체류형 관광 수요를 확대해 지역 경제 활성화에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
이용 요금은 1일 기준 비수기 3만 원, 성수기 4만 원이며, 구미시민은 거주지 인증 시 성수기와 비수기 구분 없이 20% 상시 감면 혜택을 받을 수 있다. 예약은 지난 17일부터 구미도시공사 홈페이지를 통해 온라인으로 진행되고 있다.
김장호 구미시장은 “낙동강 제2캠핑장은 도심과 가까운 곳에서 자연을 만끽할 수 있는 체류형 캠핑 공간”이라며 “안전하고 쾌적한 운영을 통해 방문객들이 편안한 휴식을 누릴 수 있도록 관리에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
