이번 서밋은 급변하는 고등교육 환경 속에서 대학 혁신과 미래 경쟁력 확보 방안을 논의하기 위해 마련됐으며, 대구보건대학교 남성희 총장과 김영근 경영부총장을 비롯해 국내 14개 대학 총장단이 참석했다.

지난 13일 열린 주제 발표 세션에서 대구보건대학교는 이주호 전 교육부 장관이 제시한 ‘스카이 블루 레볼루션(Sky-Blue Revolution)’을 바탕으로 한 글로벌 보건 인재 양성 전략을 소개해 현지 대학 관계자들의 관심을 모았다.

발표에 나선 김영근 경영부총장은 교육부 글로컬대학30 프로젝트에 선정된 대구보건대학교·광주보건대학교·대전보건대학교가 결성한 ‘한달빛글로컬보건연합대학’의 교육 혁신 모델을 소개했다.

연합대학은 50년 이상 축적된 보건 특성화 노하우를 바탕으로 교육과정 단일화, 현장 미러형 러닝센터 구축, 자율전공제 도입 등 학사제도 혁신을 추진하고 있다. 이와 함께 치기공·안경·메디컬 산업을 아우르는 DOM(Dental·Optical·Medical) 콤플렉스 구축과 평생직업교육을 통해 아시아 전역으로 보건의료 교육 표준을 확산한다는 계획이다.

방문 기간 중인 15일에는 한국 대학 총장단과 애리조나 주립대학교 간 ‘산업 밀착형 고등교육 협력’을 위한 업무협약(MOU)도 체결됐다.

특히 한달빛글로컬보건연합대학과 ASU는 연합대학이 추진 중인 교육과정 단일화 및 표준화가 국제적으로 통용될 수 있도록 ASU의 협의·자문·컨설팅을 연계하는 협력 방안을 논의했다. 또한 연합대학 교육과정을 아시아 지역으로 확산하는 과정에서 ASU의 선진 교수법과 AI 기반 교육 시스템을 접목하는 방안도 공유했다.

아울러 △간호학과 시뮬레이션센터 운영을 위한 교육 시나리오 공동 개발 △한국형 정밀 의료정보 플랫폼을 활용한 교육·연구 협력 가능성도 검토하며, 보건의료 분야에서 현장성과 국제 경쟁력을 갖춘 글로벌 교육 협력 모델을 단계적으로 구체화해 나가기로 했다.

남성희 대구보건대학교 총장은 “이번 서밋과 업무협약은 우리 대학이 추진해 온 보건 특성화 교육 혁신을 글로벌 고등교육 현장과 연결하는 의미 있는 출발점”이라며 “ASU와의 협력을 통해 연합대학 교육과정의 경쟁력을 높이고, 세계적으로 통용되는 보건의료 인재 양성 모델을 구축해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Daegu Health College Participates in ASU President's Summit… Announces Global Healthcare Talent Development Strategy and Signs MOU

Daegu Health College (President Nam Sung-hee) announced that it participated in the "2026 Arizona State University (ASU) President's Summit," held at the Tempe Campus in Arizona from May 11th to 16th. The summit presented its global talent development strategy and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for future educational innovation.

The summit, designed to discuss university innovation and securing future competitiveness amidst the rapidly changing higher education landscape, was attended by presidents of 14 universities in Korea, including Daegu Health College President Nam Sung-hee and Executive Vice President Kim Young-geun.

During the keynote presentation session held on May 13th, Daegu Health College attracted the attention of local university officials by introducing a global healthcare talent development strategy based on the "Sky-Blue Revolution" proposed by former Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho.

Kim Young-geun, Vice President for Management, presented the educational innovation model of the "Handalbit Glocal Health Union University," formed by Daegu Health College, Gwangju Health College, and Daejeon Health College, which were selected for the Ministry of Education's Glocal University 30 project. Building on over 50 years of expertise in health care, the Union University is pursuing innovations in its undergraduate program, including unifying the curriculum, establishing on-site mirror-style learning centers, and introducing a self-directed major system. Furthermore, it plans to establish a DOM (Dental, Optical, and Medical) complex encompassing dental technology, eyewear, and the medical industry, and to expand lifelong vocational education to establish standards in healthcare education throughout Asia.

During the visit, on the 15th, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Korean University Presidents' Association and Arizona State University for "Industry-Integration Higher Education Cooperation."

In particular, Daldalbit Global Health University and ASU discussed collaborative measures, including ASU's consultation, advisory, and consulting services, to ensure that the unification and standardization of the university's curriculum is internationally recognized. They also shared plans to integrate ASU's advanced teaching methods and AI-based educational systems in the expansion of the university's curriculum to Asia.

Furthermore, they agreed to jointly develop educational scenarios for the operation of the Nursing Department's Simulation Center and to explore the potential for educational and research collaboration utilizing a Korean-style precision medical information platform. They agreed to gradually develop a global educational cooperation model with practical application and international competitiveness in the healthcare field.

Daegu Health University President Nam Seong-hee stated, "This summit and MOU are a meaningful starting point for connecting our university's innovation in healthcare specialization education with the global higher education landscape. Through collaboration with ASU, we will enhance the competitiveness of the university's curriculum and establish a globally recognized model for fostering healthcare professionals."
