【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=구미시가 농림축산식품부 주관 ‘2026년 농촌돌봄거점농장’ 공모에서 경상북도 내 유일한 거점지역으로 최종 선정됐다. 선산에 위치한 ㈜행복한정원이 거점농장으로 지정되면서, 구미시는 경북권 농촌돌봄 서비스 확산의 중심 역할을 맡게 됐다.
이번 사업은 농촌 지역의 교육 수요 증가에 대응하고 지속 가능한 농촌 협력체계 구축을 목표로 추진되는 경쟁형 공모사업이다. 전국에서 단 5개 시·군만 선정되는 가운데 경북에서는 구미시가 유일하게 이름을 올렸으며, 경남 거제, 강원 원주, 충남 홍성, 전남 곡성 등이 함께 선정됐다.
사업은 2026년부터 2028년까지 3년간 추진되며, 총사업비 4억5천만 원이 투입된다. 재원은 국비 3억1천500만 원, 도비 6천750만 원, 시비 6천750만 원으로 구성됐다. 구미시는 그동안 ‘농촌돌봄서비스 활성화 지원사업’을 추진해 온 경험과 지역 공동체·복지·지역개발 분야 중간지원 조직으로서의 전문성과 운영 역량을 높이 평가받아 이번 공모에 선정됐다.
거점농장은 실습과 강의, 견학 등을 통해 사회적 농업을 확산하고, 농장과 복지·교육기관 간 협력체계 구축을 지원하는 역할을 맡는다. 또한 사회적 농장 간 연대를 강화하고, 현장 중심의 교육과 컨설팅을 통해 농촌돌봄 서비스의 질적 성장을 이끌 예정이다.
구미시는 경북권역 거점농장 운영을 통해 도내 농촌돌봄기관 종사자와 교육생들의 현장 방문이 활발해질 것으로 보고 있다. 이에 따라 교육·견학·컨설팅 목적의 방문 수요가 증가하고, 숙박·음식·교통 등 지역 상권 전반에도 긍정적인 파급 효과가 기대된다.
한편 이 사업은 전국 8개 시·군이 단계적으로 참여하는 구조로, 2025년에는 인천 강화, 강원 횡성, 전북 완주가 먼저 사업을 추진 중이다. 2026년부터는 구미시를 포함해 거제·원주·홍성·곡성 등 5개 시·군이 추가로 참여하게 된다.
김장호 구미시장은 “농촌돌봄거점농장 사업을 통해 현장 중심 교육과 협력 체계를 단계적으로 구축해 나가겠다”며 “관계 기관과의 긴밀한 협업을 바탕으로 사업이 안정적으로 운영될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Gumi City anticipates that the operation of the Gyeongbuk region hub farm will encourage on-site visits by rural care workers and trainees within the province. This is expected to increase demand for education, field trips, and consulting, and have a positive spillover effect on the local commercial sector, including accommodations, restaurants, and transportation.
Meanwhile, this project will be implemented in phases with eight cities and counties nationwide participating. Ganghwa in Incheon, Hoengseong in Gangwon Province, and Wanju in North Jeolla Province are currently the first to launch in 2025. Starting in 2026, five additional cities and counties, including Gumi City, Geoje, Wonju, Hongseong, and Gokseong, will join.
