대구한의대학교(총장 변창훈) 인문도시지원사업단(단장 김영)은 교육부와 한국연구재단이 지원하는 인문도시지원사업의 일환으로 2026년 영주 시민을 대상으로 한 인문강좌와 체험 프로그램 운영을 시작한다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 ‘호혜(互惠)의 기록, 영주의 선비문화를 기억하다’를 슬로건으로 추진되며 지난해에 이어 2년 차를 맞았다. 영주에 축적된 선비문화의 가치와 공동체 정신을 현대적으로 재해석해 시민 삶 속에 확산하는 데 목적이 있다.

특히 영주의 선비문화 전통과 노블레스 오블리주 정신을 인문학적으로 조명하고, 대학의 특성화 분야인 한의학과 전통 치유 문화를 접목해 지역 인문자산을 시민 참여형 콘텐츠로 확장하는 데 초점을 맞췄다.

올해 프로그램은 강좌와 체험을 병행해 누구나 참여할 수 있도록 구성됐다. 주요 강좌로는 조선시대 의학과 유학의 관계를 다루는 ‘유의(儒醫), 허준’, 인공지능 시대 인간 가치와 윤리를 성찰하는 ‘인공지능 시대, 선비정신의 힘’, 지역 선비의 삶을 조명하는 ‘영주의 선비와 후예들’, 지역 한의사의 역할을 다룬 ‘영주를 지키는 한의사 이야기’ 등이 운영된다.

체험 프로그램도 다양하게 마련됐다. 퇴계 이황의 정신을 담은 향낭 제작 ‘영주의 선비향’, 약초를 활용한 전통 치유 체험 ‘K-MEDI의 뿌리’, 전통 건강법을 접목한 ‘활인심방 선비체조’ 등 시민 참여형 프로그램이 진행될 예정이다.

사업단은 영주문화원과 선비도서관, 영주시노인복지관, 영주시장애인종합복지관, 어울림가족센터 등 지역 기관과 협력체계를 구축해 다양한 계층이 인문학을 접할 수 있도록 운영할 계획이다.

김영 사업단장은 “영주는 선비문화의 중요한 거점으로 공동체를 위한 책임과 배려의 가치가 축적된 도시”라며 “한의학과 인문학을 결합한 프로그램을 통해 선비문화의 의미를 시민 삶 속에 확산하고 지역과 함께 성장하는 인문도시 모델을 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.

한편 해당 프로그램은 영주 시민 누구나 참여할 수 있으며, 세부 일정과 신청 방법은 포스터와 리플릿을 통해 안내된다.

The Humanities City Support Project Team (Director Kim Young) of Daegu Hani University (President Byun Chang-hoon) announced that it will begin operating humanities lectures and experiential programs for Yeongju citizens in 2026 as part of the Humanities City Support Project, which is funded by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

This project is being promoted under the slogan "Records of Reciprocity, Remembering Yeongju's Seonbi Culture" and marks its second year following last year. Its purpose is to reinterpret the values ​​of Seonbi culture and community spirit accumulated in Yeongju in a modern context and to spread them into the lives of citizens. This year’s program is designed to allow anyone to participate by combining lectures and hands-on activities. Key lectures include "Yu-ui, Heo Jun," which covers the relationship between medicine and Confucianism during the Joseon Dynasty; "The Power of the Scholar Spirit in the Age of AI," which reflects on human values ​​and ethics in the age of artificial intelligence; "Scholars of Yeongju and Their Descendants," which sheds light on the lives of local scholars; and "Stories of Korean Medicine Doctors Protecting Yeongju," which addresses the role of local Korean medicine doctors.

A variety of hands-on programs have also been prepared. Citizen-participatory programs are scheduled to take place, including "The Scent of Yeongju's Scholar," a sachet making activity embodying the spirit of Toegye Yi Hwang; "The Roots of K-MEDI," a traditional healing experience utilizing medicinal herbs; and "Hwalinsimbang Scholar Exercise," which incorporates traditional health methods. The project team plans to operate the program by establishing a cooperative system with local institutions such as the Yeongju Cultural Center, Seonbi Library, Yeongju Senior Welfare Center, Yeongju Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled, and Eoullim Family Center, enabling diverse demographics to access the humanities.

Project Director Kim Young stated, “Yeongju is an important hub of Seonbi culture, a city where values ​​of responsibility and consideration for the community have accumulated.” He added, “Through programs that combine Korean traditional medicine and the humanities, we will spread the meaning of Seonbi culture into the lives of citizens and create a model of a humanities city that grows together with the region.”

Meanwhile, the program is open to all Yeongju citizens, and detailed schedules and application methods will be provided via posters and leaflets.
